(Night Lightning) Unwelcome guests

Richard follows Konrad to the gate and stands by his side awaiting an answer after the buzzer is pressed. He feels the vibration of his phone in his pocket and reaches his hand in, holding his pocket open enough to peek in and read the text. He leans his head back up without making any expression at all but noting the information. When the voice chimes in over the intercom Richard is listens to Konrad, paying close attention for key details in his story to avoid accidentally exposing them when hes up to speak. Once Konrad is done, Richard continues waiting to see if they had gotten any where. He hoped that they would at least be able to make it to the front door, face to face it would be easier for him to use his own tricks should they need it.

While Konrad tries to get them in, Chris looks at the camera. He knows he will be visible to it if the CCTV is also recording. But he assumes that the Saunders family is not that paranoid, and with knowledge of Obfuscate, to have it on delayed display.

The Gangrel thief is not a master liar, but maybe it helps that communication goes through electronic means. For now Chris just waits. He wouldn't have done much better probably.

A moment of silence that seems to last much longer than it really is ends:

"Hang on, sir, let me get you".

About two minutes pass and an honest to god English butler steps out. Well, chances are the guy's refinement is a product of schooling somewhere in California, not breeding, but still. A tailored, comfortable suit sits well on him, adorned with pearl cufflings. Apparently, in this house even the staff ride in style.

The man himself is tall, lean, of indeterminate age. Calm, evaluating eyes look at Konrad and Richard:

"Good evening, good sirs, my name is Harold Breakwood, Ms. Saunders personal assistant. How long have you been with the Helpful Haven Foundation, might I ask?" - he doesn't wait for the answer, opening the gate, letting the two Kindred inside and gesturing for them to follow him toward the house.

Chris is free to enter the grounds under the cover of Obfuscate. Konrad and Richard can follow the butler inside or do whatever From now on I'll be maintaining the pace between your two situations so keep in mind that prolonged extended tasks might result in a small wait while the other team does their thing.

Konrad returns what he believes to be a polite smile before following behind Harold. "Good evening, Mr. Breakwood. Not long, unfortunately. But no less eager to do our part. This is Richard, my friend and associate. We're glad Ms. Saunders is willing to spare some time for us on such short notice." Pleasantries. Idle chatter. Konrad hopes he's coming across as a charity worker. He doubts if he's ever given to charity let alone worked for one. But now the question plagues him. What is he going to say when he does actually meet Ms. Saunders?

Since there's no actual charity, and Konrad hasn't done any research, he's not going to be there for long without one of them getting wise to his con. He wonders if impersonating a charity was a criminal offense that they might call the police on them. Probably. Well his legs worked well enough if they need to make a break for it, but the Saunders had their faces on film with that camera. He would have to cross that bridge when he gets to it.

Off to a good start it seems, at least they had managed to get passed the front gate. He smiles courteously after being introduced by Konrad, "A pleasure I'm sure." he says while following the butler through the gates and towards the house. Richard still wasn't entirely sure how they were going to find the book inside such a huge estate, he only had one trick up his sleeve but it was more like an ace in the hole, a last ditch effort that could be applied and hopefully work out. Assuming he could get just one or two people alone that knew the whereabouts of the book it was possible that through the use of discipline Richard could get them to reveal its location.

When they seem to have an easy start, Chris follows the others closely with a smile. He doesn't want to walk too far behind, since he needs to be able to slip inside when the time is right.

Since he knows they don't have much time - lacking an actual story or charity organization, the Mekhet gets right to business.

He invades the butler's mind, looking for any data that could lead to the book. A library/study in the house, or actually rooms that are off-limits for the man.

Chris easily parts the cold-steel jumble of random thought fragments and calm emotions, anchoring on the image of the book in his mind. He finds it almost immediately. A hallway to the right of the entrance. A heavy metal door concealed behind a mirror, sporting three locks but unlocked. Inside - a medium-sized chest without a lock.

The butler leads them up to the porch, answering Konrad amicably:

"Ah, well, Ms. Saunders is always looking for a good cause to pledge some of her resources to. She is such a gentle soul", - he fiddles with his keys for a few seconds before opening the door and gesturing the Kindred inside. It's an opulent hallway, heavily favouring statues and pottery in ancient Greek and Roman style. Judging by how worn they look, these might actually be originals.

The Saunders clearly have an old-fashioned taste: natural stone, natural wood, heavy designs and soft textures. And very, very expensive.

Harold beckons the men to follow him into a side hallway, away from the main stairs leading to the second floor:

"Let me escort you to the guestroom and then I'll go and get Ms. Saunders".

Konrad's sense of architecture had never been very developed and his experiences with ancient designs often related to the Vegas Casino thematic imitations. But he does have a sense for value, and he's quite sure he could make a killing on the black market with some of the decor. Maybe later. For now he sees no reason to deviate from the plan and allows himself to be escorted to the side hallway.

"Thank you," replies Konrad simply to Harold. A gentle soul, eh? She sure can afford to be generous. How exactly did they get all this wealth? Wooding said it had some connection to this book we're after, I think...

Richard continues following Konrad and the butler. Honestly he is rather surprised by how easily they were able to gain access to the estate considering the amount of value that he passed by with each and every step. If they wanted they could have easily walked straight through the front door with burners and walk out with a hefty pay day. Once again Richard curses himself for not following his own instincts and spending his time getting his hands on some sort of gun though he was still new to this city and doing so could easily turn into more trouble than its worth. Perhaps Konrad could be of assistance with that..he did say he had some shady contacts.. Once inside the butler mentions going to fetch Ms. Saunders. Now they were getting somewhere.
