After Dinner... Mint? (Private)

The Daeva had slowly walked through the lobby of the hotel, looking to see where Chris Wooding had gotten off to. Yet, as soon as she walked outside, there he was. The dashing young looking man who had previously winked at her.

She had two reasons to track him down, finding out what happened, and, the other was a woman’s secret. Vivian walked straight up to him, she didn’t spare whatever his personal boundaries may be. She wanted to keep up the appearance of something, most ignored ‘couples’ or felt embarrassed for gawking at them. If Chris didn’t like it, he was perhaps man enough to move or say something.

“So, dahling, wasn’t that an intriguing evening…” Looking slightly up to him, the same knowing secret in her eyes with a quivered brow. “I think we should take this elsewhere…” For any gawkers or curious parties, they would either think Vivian was an escort service, or she and Chris knew each other far better than they actually did.

Chris had been looking for Vivian, as he waited outside. He feels slightly underdressed, since he never meant to really meet a nice woman on his hunting trip. The whole night took several interesting turns. Though, as he hangs his jacket casually over his shoulder, what's left is his white tanktop and leather gloves. That still has certain appeal.

'Intriguing you say?' Is Chris man enough to move or say something? Sure. He closes the distance between them and offers the enticing Daeva his arm. 'As if the most exciting part is not yet to come.'

A woman dressed so nicely and looking simply delightful could never be an escort. So the only option for Chris would be to get to know Vivian way better than he does now, yes?

'Elsewhere it is. I know a few good places, not far from here. Would you care for a short walk, Miss York?'

The Daeva couldn’t help but smirk to the way Chris looked. A little bit of the James Dean bad boy side seemed to linger on him. Not that she should judge, but she wondered if he knew who he was. Then again, he had similar tastes in older movies, so it was possible. This man was usually not her type in the least, but for the time, it was for appearances; or was it?

Naturally, Vivian took up his offer, her gloved hand slipping over his bare arm. “And what, pray tell, do you have planned for additional excitement?” Looking up to him her eyes passing his bicep on the way up; muscular, but not bulging. She wondered if he shed his coat on purpose. “Unless you’re following a whim…” In a teasing tone with a quick wink before they began walking.

“Of course I would.” Tipping her free hand forward. “Well, you are far more familiar with this city than I, do lead the way.” The Daeva hadn’t a glimmer of where they could be going.

Too bad I drove tonight, yet still, would I want him to know where I was staying just yet…?

'Well, it's not like I planned meeting you tonight. And I can hardly think straight with all these jealous people staring at me.' He chuckles, while he actually starts to lead the way.

Chris is definitely familiar with the city. He's seen enough hotel rooms in his years of friendship with a certain other Daeva. The years of waiting have never made him feel more than a real Shadow.

Now he just needs to decide. The Sterling Hotel? One of the best places there is, besides, they have a really nice bar.' Because the bar is where they'll be spending their time, obviously.

Heheh.

And Chris has some fond memories of the place. His first period of torpor, for example. So good.

'Though we shouldn't forget your video tapes, miss.'

“Nooo, this wasn’t planned. I also didn’t think I’d have the pleasure of your company, again, this evening.” Certain joking emphasis on varied words. The Deava slightly squeezed his arm while they strolled along the sidewalk. Whatever had happened, things could have gone sour. For now, only her curiosity cared about Chris, and whatever pulled the attention of many away. Jealous, no… not entirely… maybe a little…

“I may have seen that name in a visitor brochure of sorts.” Shaking her head, a slight chuckle stirring in her throat. “Oh, a nice bar. Well, the night is still young, time enough to check out sights. But let’s not forget to discuss the other matters at some point, hmm.”

When Chris mentioned the tape return, the slight chuckle turned into a quick loud laugh. “Oh, that! Well, that was just a polite joke of sorts…a line from a movie I favor.”

Of course, when he says nothing was planned, it means not now. From the she arrived, Vivian had drawn Chris' attention. They were already supposed to go on a film date, yes?

'The other point, of course,' he nods, the mysterious woman was not forgotten - the hierophant just hadn't thought about her, 'I said I could provide a proper welcome to the city. That I could enrich her stay here. Well, that is quite open for interpretation... Which got me her business card and a meeting date.' He smiles, it was not that big a deal.

'We could contact the others, see if they're interested in hearing more, before I go to that meeting. But there's still some time.' Besides, he really needs time to think about the whole situation. He would perhaps even write something down about Nefertiti's aura for future reference.

He laughs then, with Vivian. 'Oh I figured something like that! Who would use video tapes these days?! But which movie, if I may ask?' Can't know everything, can he?

“Really…” Vivian partially smirked while looking upward to Chris. “Do you… always offer strange people enriching encounters?” It was sort of cute, like he'd responded to a personals advertisement or dating site.

Gently gripping Chris' arm, with a slight pat of her gloved fingers on his arm. “Here I thought I special and caught your eye…” She was chiding him of course, or was it hiding that it didn’t seem to take much to turn this young looking man’s head. The Daeva was far too old to play the part of a doting young dame.

“I’m sure the other two are probably interested in hearing more. Michael seemed particularly eager.” Though, Michael didn’t seem to eager to speak with her at first. Looks can be deceiving in more ways that one.

The Succubus looked around as they walked, noting wherever they passed. “American Psycho is the movie. A particular favorite of mine, dripping with Eighty’s music.” A light laugh preceded her next statement. “And this thing about business card jealousy. The way they compete for tiny pieces of cardboard is hilarious.”

Her steps did not halt but as she asked her own question. “So, where is the Sterling? Or was that your excuse to take me away into a dark alley….” If she were to meet her end at the hands of a gorgeous darling man, it was far better than to be tortured into final death or torpor.

Did some men think that of me at one point...?

The Mekhet chuckles, as he shakes his head, 'It looks like it now, doesn't it? But no, I just do that to the most stunning of only unearthly beauties, Miss York. And believe me, this Nefertiti Khan was a whole new mystery to me.'

'They are probably eager to hear more indeed. Which sounds like a good reason to save the topic for later, and focus on other things right now.' Yes, she had caught his eye. Normally he is not so easily seduced. Only if he lets himself go... which is what he'd done with Vivian.

Though to be honest, if she really put effort behind it, she could have gotten him anyway. He's a man. They can't help it.

'American Psycho, oh I've seen that one! Unfortunately only once, yet, which is probably why I didn't recognize the phrase. I particularly like the opening sequence, as it immediately caught my attention - a gaze to last for the duration of the whole movie.' He thinks about that movie for a moment, realizing it is his favorite Christian Bale performance. He should see it sometime again. If only that didn't count for almost every movie.

'A dark alley?! Don't be silly.' He laughs, shaking his head again. 'I only do enlightened alleys.*'

'But in all seriousness, it's just around the block. No need to worry. I only planned to do some cocktails, or drink some wine? Or... let someone else drink wine.' He looks sideways to wink to Vivian.

Someone is feeling naughty.

“Just one more thing, if I may be so bold to ask.” It was perhaps the first time that Chris would hear an apologetic tone in her voice, but she had to ask. “Was there a reason you went over there for duty to the City?” Vivian’s voice was hushed while she turned into him as much as she could whilst walking. “I understand you are curious dahling, but are you attempting to reclaim things prior to your departure from here?”

Patting the Shadow's arm with her other hand, she whispers only as he could hear. “I wouldn’t fault you in the slightest. I could try to assist, but I’m afraid I am meaningless to this place thus far.” Which was the cold truth. If she blinked out of existence from the Domain, Chris may be the only one to notice or even care; more of the latter. As strange as it is for a Daeva, she hoped to keep it that way as long as possible.

The Succubus’ tone changed back to normal, “I also own that movie. Perhaps we will be in need of a double feature movie night.”

Vivian laughed quietly, yet soundly, her gloved free hand moving over her mouth a little. “Maybe, I’m in need of a little enlightenment…” Looking up to the dashing, young-looking man with a wink.

“I wasn’t worried, Chris…” Letting his name linger on her lips for a moment longer than normal. “Playfully curious.” The talk of wine though, instantly went to her head wanting decedent crimson liquid to befall her lips. It would always be on their minds, the want and need for warm nourishment. “Wine…. Hmm, yes. Although, you may need to find a way to take my mind off of it…”

Vivian tapped her hand again on his arm, "Oh, and unless you have a personal rule about it, please, call me Vivian."

He shrugs, he may not even be sure about what Vivian is asking. 'I don't necessarily think that's the case. You see, I've never head any official positions. You really need to hang around with the right people for that.' It's hardly a matter of skill. 'But I suppose I do feel a need to prove something, even if it's unwittingly.'

When the beautiful Daeva says she's 'meaningless to this place', Chris just responds with a friendly smile and a subtle shake of his head. A way to say you shouldn't worry. She just arrived, after all. It won't be long before people start noticing her, without any doubt. As long as she makes it clear that she wants to stay, she will be missed.

'Are you now?' Playful eyes follow her hands to those stunning lips. A certain feeling grows inside him, an almost nervous boyish feeling. He doesn't want to assume 'anything' that might be wrong.

His playful expression becomes questioning then. He meant exactly what she asks him to take her mind off. 'I think some drinks mix quite well... don't you, Vivian?' Even with wine. Vitae. Obviously. There is only one way to really drink wine. Though that would become quite an intimate event, she must be up for it. Chris' free will, on that matter, is long gone. He draws the Daeva a little closer to whisper, as if telling a dark secret, 'Not at all, feel free to call me Chris.'
