Sam nods at her, fiddling with his tie again. "My name's Samuel, it's, uh, very nice to meet you." He tried to force a grin, revealing his rows of teeth, before realizing what he was doing, and closing his mouth sheepishly, to try to fake a closed-mouthed smile. "What colors do you have?" Focusing on the scarves would work. Things always calmed him down. Things were solid, constant, permanent. It was hard to destroy a thing, and you could touch them and play with them. And playing with a thing confirmed it still wasn't all a dream.
One of his hands reached down to rub the fabric of one of the scarves, examining it and calming his heart at the same time. "And, um, what would you want in return for one of them?" Of course, it wouldn't be free. He realized that. It was a fact of life. In fact, he was fairly certain he might not be able to afford one, since he really didn't have anything worth much, other than maybe his word. But it never hurt to ask.
"Nice to meet you, Sam. Well, these are my most recent designs so they're for the current Season; yellows, coppers and, naturally, oranges," Terri explained, showcasing each with a deft hand. "I may have some out of Season designs if you're interested, however."
When he mentioned cost, Terri continued to smile. Always friendly, that was the Beast's MO.
"For these? 10 dollars each. However, as a trained hedgespinner who specialises in raiment, I am always willing to discuss business. Was there anything you had in mind?"
Sam nods, a hand coming up to scratch his chin, while most of the rest of his fidgeting faded some. Ten dollars was a fine price as far as he was concerned, and he could definitely do with a scarf to keep his neck warm in nasty weather. But, the other things...
"Ah, no, sorry. I don't really have anything to offer, I'm, uh, new here. Just arrived a month or so ago. Don't really have anything to use to trade for a thing. Sorry." He paused, considering what he had as an option. "And, uh, what kind of designs do you have in copper?"
Terri smiled. She knew that what Sam said was simply naivete. Everyone had something to offer, it was a fundamental aspect of what kept the Freehold a bastion against the Gentry.
"No problem, Sam," she smiled, "if you ever change your mind, you can always find me at Quicksilver Gate."
At the Wizened's request, Terri selected several plain copper coloured scarves, as well as one with autumnal leaves and another that had a strange, turquoise pattern crisscrossing throughout.
Whilst she patiently waited for Sam to make a decision, if he was going to, Terri smiled as Maredrauga came over, nodding politely at him before he headed off to fulfill Betony's order.
"Excuse me, Sam, the Queen has called for me," Terri chirped. "Feel free continue looking, I shouldn't be too long."
With another grin, Terri headed over to speak with the Dread Lady.
