(1407) The Duel

Gold, huh? Well, funny way to show it with the popcorn. Unless that was a coping thing? For the Silver? Maybe the Brown? Well, whatever, you did what you had to do. If that meant bringing a snack to normalize, Avis wasn't going to point fingers. Would be a pretty unenlightened thing to do, given the little sliver of wood she was methodically grinding down between her 32 white horses. Besides there was something else in the Aura that was actually worth paying attention to: the Light Green. Who, or what, was worthy of that kind of skepticism? The Hierarch, maybe? Or was it something to do with the Challenger? Aquinas had the kind of face that inspired trust, but sometimes that was exactly what made the best of liars.

Driven by curiosity as much as paranoia, Avis shifted her weight off the wall and crossed the Circle to Aurum.

Crowley blinked.

"Uh. Sure. I guess. Thanks." He dug into the offered popcorn.

Looking about he asked: "So what do you make of all this? Its seems like a whole pile of shit is coming to ahead..." He gobbled popcorn, waiting for a response.

"I'd call that the betting line then. It seems like a lot of people are upset that they don't have a proper Council. I'm upset that they don't either. It's up to them though. Avalon doesn't sit on the Council, and considering all the people who have been here during her tenure don't either. They shoulder just as much of the blame."

They're all to blame for being a bunch of lawless cretins. She follows protocol when she arrives only to find out that there's no one paying attention to it. Or they do pay attention to it. There are a lot of expectations for anyone who moves in, and a lot of unmet expectations from those that have been here.

"They need a scapegoat though. It's not like they're going to blame themselves."

She speaks honestly and openly and fully loudly enough-for Ermac ( Ermac ) and anyone who wants to hear-to hear. What did they call it on 30 Rock? A 'truth bomb'? That's what she's dropping. Tactlessly. She doesn't have any pull in the city anyway, so why not use the opportunity to say the things that no one wants to hear, but everyone needs to know.

"Either way, we're going to have an outsider come in and sit at the head of the table. How long before the new seating arrangements turn out to be tainted too? It won't matter until someone steps up to lead."

As each of her cabalmates scattered, ceasing their duck-like behaviour and resuming their more skilled ability to be cats, Zoey simply sighed and shook her head a little bit. She had no real desire to interact with anyone here, instead moving to find herself a place to view the scene from. As she heard words of bets and that ilk, it took all the composure she could muster to keep the expression of distain from her face.

The situation was serious. It was a make or break moment for the consilium, and a lot of things rested on this. And yet people were chosing to speculate and place bets like this was some horse race? She wasn't even certain she approved of this being the determining factor for Hierarch. They were Awakened... Enlightened beings... and yet they were determining their Hierarch based on who had the biggest guns?

It was that kind of thing, she was certain enough, that had gotten the consilium into the state it was in to begin with. Fools.

Faye had heard about the Duel, and ad only decided at the last minute to go. There was an essential stop for a coffee before she found the building. Well, more of a gothic church, but hey, it added character.

Her eyes widen in awe as she walks into the building, it was a beautiful piece of architecture. She then enters the gathering area and pauses, taking in the crowd of Awakened. On her way over, she had worried she had dressed wrong, but to be fair, how does one dress for a Duel? There were a few dresses, and some in jeans, so she figures her leather pants aren’t too out of the norm.

She sees a few familiar faces, and gives them a wide smile and a small wave. A sip is taken from her coffee as she wanders the room.
