"Awesome! And, uh, 'doesn't sound bad'? Nice. 'Cool' or 'fun' was what I was shooting for? But I'll take it," he laughed, teasing her.

His neck felt chilled now, in post awkward embarrassed moment relief. The tightly coiled spool spring inside unwound, popping open, leaving him at the other end of the spectrum -- the giddy rubbery feeling of relief. Weirdness. Like he needed to stand and bounce around, shake it all out.

"And, sure. The hat. You win. I'll do it. You're totally going to be the girl with goofy hat wearing guy, though. Just sayin'. But, yeah, it's a date. You've got a date Friday night."

[Avis]

"Um. Friday? Ok. I'll take a sick day, I guess," Avis agreed, inching closer to her escape back into wonderland. "I'll, uh, I'll be here. Just, ya know, text me or something and let me know when to be ready."

At least she'd have time to, well, she'd have time. She didn't know what she'd do in that time, but she'd figure something out. Maybe she should talk to Asp, see what she thought...
