Night fell, stomachs rumbled, and VT rolled out to get food. Then argued about what to get, finally deciding on Chinese, and made a stop for Indian anyway. Hey, compromise was important, right? Well, eventually they'd figure out the best way to communicate and co-exist together but that took time. And more arguments over what to get for take out. It was all a process, persistent yet always changing. It was exciting.

At times the others made Avis feel self conscious, or angry, and usually cagey, but she also felt happier than she could remember being for a long time. Perhaps it was too early to call the rest of the Veiled Threats friends, but they were something, and she cherished that. There was a sense of comfort with the others that she had no where else and ultimately that was why she'd abandoned the idea of joining company with the First Talon. Idly she wondered how Leo and the Archangels were doing while she got a glass of water for everyone and the others set up the feast they'd collectively purchased.

An idea started bouncing around in her head when she walked back to the table, balancing four glasses in her hands. She made sure to give Cut a wide berth, handing him his glass from across the table.

Indian food. That was an idea she could always get behind. Always.

Settling herself at the table without much thought on it, Zoey happily indulged in her butter chicken, mixing a little bit of jasmin rice in with the sauce before scooping some up to eat and looking rather delighted. This was so much more her thing. Not out in a restaurant. Not eating something stupid. Nope. Just at home, eating what she enjoyed, not having to worry about snoopy people overhearing things... this was going to be a good night. Then? Some quality time with Absinthe before bed.

Honestly? He wasn't sure what he was eating. He'd just yelled 'Make that two' randomly, then taken whatever was left.

Really? He was only picky about three things in life. Music... and something... and something else. The flow, yo. Go with it. Pretty easy to do when Life Was Good. Smell that ambi-manny? Mmmmm mmmmm tass lickin' good. Four Walls? The bomb. Caballies? Aight. No, seriously. Better than that. Yep. There were things to work out. He wasn't super fond of showering last, but, whatever. Because cleanliness.

His face hurt. Like legit. Keeping it all straight. Don't. Crack. A. Grin. Couldn't help it. Avis was so cute. Avoiding him. She'd missed it.

Doing the Happy Dance would probably be inappropriate. Maybe after dinner.

    "What is this?"

He held up a spork full of something. Someone give him the four one one. Just in case.

    Asp

Asp was in good spirits, too. And why not? It seemed like things were really going well for their little group. Sharp had never told her cabals could be this much fun. Awesome movie theatre. Awesome Hallow under which she casted awesome cloaked spells so her endless array of defenses wouldn't even bother her cabal-mates.

She was waiting for the other shoe to drop. This city was a danger zone. Awakened died here. But in amongst the darkness, somewhere between the nightmare of her first day on the job and soul-ripping horrors she was being exposed to, there was a glimmer of light here.

    It was nice.

Asp accepted one of the glasses Avis was toting with a smile and sipped. "I have no idea, dude. Indian food is a mystery to me. Let's do this. It's butter chicken time."

    Naan? Check.

    Butter chicken? Check.

Asp stuffed her face. It was not lady-like.

"Well, that's why I just got a thing with rice," Avis said as though that explained everything and took her seat across from Cut. He couldn't get the card if there was a table between them, now could he? Unless he like, dropped his fork or something. She'd watch out for that. He wasn't getting the card tonight! She'd use Asp as a shield if she had to.

Her mind churned with different ways to keep the card out of Cut's reach for some time while she dug into her dish, the silence resting comfortably around them as the four ate. Of course, there was that little idea that she'd had.

"Do y'all want to play a game?"

Looking up for a moment, Zoey simply shook her head and chuckled. "Butter chicken, Star. It's a staple. The bread there is naan - you can use it to mop up what's left of the sauce when you finish your butter chicken, if you'd like."

Taking another bite of her own food, she paused at Avis' question and felt the migraine beginning. A game...? Was this game going to put off her plans? "What game...?" she inquired cautiously.

    "Naan."

He tried the word out. "Naan." OK. That was... oddly... fun to say.

    "OK, cool. Thanks, Zoey."

Zoey. Hoey... just. stop. Nothing rhymed. Not like Handy Mandy.

"Oh, sure, I'm down for a game. I like games."

He shoved the spork in his mouth to keep it occupied. Chew. Don't Cheshire.

    Asp

Asp, for politeness's sake, made like a python and swallowed her mouthful before going on to speak. She was totally going to be all bloaty after this. At least, until Life Magic (TM) happened. The body was a temple, but so long as she worked out, it was all good.

"Depends," she commented idly as she stuffed more butter chicken into her chops. Nom, nom, nom. "Does it involve drinking?"

Shit. Eating. Grin. Right at Zoey.

"Um. No. No it does not," Avis said firmly, not really bothering to think about it. You probably could work drinking in for wrong guesses, or having to drink if people guessed correctly, but Avis didn't drink so none of that noise.

"It's pretty simple, really. Directions are all in the title. It's called two truths and one lie. Basically, you tell three stories, or at least say three sentences, and two of them have to be true and one of them has to be a lie. Everyone gives their stories and then we try and guess which ones are the lies together. Pretty simple, right?" Avis asked, taking another bite of rice, chickpeas, and meat-stuff. It was delicious meat-stuff, mind you, but she honestly couldn't tell if it was chicken or goat or something. "What do y'all say? It could be fun."

The look Zoey shot at Asp was quick, and a curt shake of the head followed it before she returned to focusing on her food. Hell with that!

Though, the game also didn't sit well with her, precisely. She was a reasonably good liar, but the idea that they were telling two true stories and one lie...? And did they have to clarify, afterwards, which was the lie? That was... getting personal.

"... you wanna do this over dinner, huh?" Zoey sighed. "... anyone mind if I smoke? ... smells like raspberries," she added pointedly. Yeah. She'd need to relax a bit for this one.
