[Ishani]

Ishani purses her lips and tries to push aside the mental picture of slapping Peter upside the head. "All right, first, we're about to go into conbat which means there are two rules. One, drops the titles. Two, shut up please."

She then looks up the stairs and up on the ceiling. She already feels them, now it is just a matter of finding the little fuckers. She motions her hands across her eyes, points at Asa, and then moves her hand around in a circle. After that, she continues to scrutenize the area, not moving yet.

((Yeah, sorry about the absence. Back now. Let's kick some ass!))

As Gideon looks to her Headstrong shakes once and motions the others to wait. If they left their spot other scaleys may again station themselves on the floor they had just cleared.

Besides, she wasn't sure if the unarmed Ephram and kung-fu D'Wayne could contribute to a fight Asa and Ishani couldn't manage themselves. She could go of course but that would leave the same two to defend Gideon.

Unless the situation upstairs proved to be too uncontrolled they would stay put and guard against interlopers from down below. The Prince and Harpy surely would suffice. She'd have to remember to ask Joseph as to how the four of them had handled the situation.

Narration:

As they climb the stairs, neither Asa nor Ishani sees any sign of the scaley creatures they seek. Nonetheless, all the vampires headed that direction continue to experience the strange sense of wrongness associated with the creatures.

As they get to the top of the stairs and look down the hallway, they notice things are a shambles up here. Doors have been violently forced, doorjambs broken in some cases, and they can see through the open doors that things have been thrown around. In one case - a room Ishani recognizes as Rahyna's - they see shards of glass spilling from the open doorway into the hall, some delicate item apparently having been shattered.

Ishani's Auspex also shows her that one of the scaley creatures is clinging to the ceiling directly over that particular doorway, its head turned at a strange angle as it watches the vampires. The creature looks as the others have in their tougher, armored form: barefoot, with thick, scaled skin, greyish-green color, flattened facial features and fingers and toes ending in black claws.

At the same time, Gideon hears just the faintest sound of movement from within the study... so faint that he realizes he wouldn't have heard it at all had he not had Auspex active.

Eyes narrow, as Gideon strains to hear more. Carefully, slowly, he reaches up--as silent as can be, trying not even to rustle clothing--and waggles the hand, getting the attention of all those at the bottom of the stairs. He looks each Dragon in the eyes to make sure they are focused on him; his gaze locks with Headstrong's last, and he points to the study.

The others had cleared the study but Headstrong knew better than to doubt Gideon. Motioning to D'Wayne and Ephram in a similar manner as to how she'd signaled Asa and Ishani, Headstrong makes a series of long strides that carry her and her waiting axe to the study's entrance.

[Ishani]

Ishani established a link with Asa with the speed of thought and showed him what she was seeing. It was obvius the creature knew they were there, so any overt attempt to give him physical directions would be useless. She glanced at him to see if he had any ideas.

As Ishani shows him the image, the urge to look again at the doorway is almost overwhelming -- to see if he could pierce the Cloak which had clouded his eyes before, and to see if there were any telltale signs now that he knew exactly what to look for.

More disturbing was the deeper urge to lick his lips as he reacted to the source of the oh so tempting Blood he had tasted earlier. It was an embarassing reaction with Ishani in his mind, but he forced it back, and pictured himself throwing his knife at the creature instead.

Just a throw, not an image of it sinking into flesh and spattering Blood everywhere.

Not that.
