(Grimoire) Lab Work

It has been some weeks since the mysterious raid on the Ordo Chapter House. Time enough for leads to be investigated; time enough for the regular rhythm of the Order to reassert itself.

It wasn't a terribly big lab space; in truth, it looked more like a generic space that had acquired the trappings of a laboratory over time, as equipment was parked there for safe keeping... and then either lost or ignored. But someone had known it was there, hidden away. Michael Redfill's contacts had let it slip and it had been so easy to set the place up for their night-time investigation.

The lab sat, cleaned out, with its equipment primed and ready. Harsh lighting hummed. Air conditioning rumbled to life - not that it would do too much good. This was one of those irritating floors where the air just didn't circulate effectively, despite what Facilities and Security might say.

Empty and alone, the room waited with a kind of baited breath.

This scene follows fro the Grimoire Meeting and takes up the physical examination from where it was left off. Time has passed and the ad-hoc coterie have obtained lab space and equipment for their investigations...

Tonight Michael made sure to keep his schedule open. No patrols, no lecture, nothing to interfere with spending this spring night delving deeper into the mysteries of the artifact the Dragons had acquired. He stops by the Chapterhouse in his car, picking up the Grimoire and inviting Anabella ( Princess ) to have a ride with him to the laboratory if she so wishes.

The doctor arrives shortly after Luke, carefully holding the container with the book in his hands (shoving it directly into a bag was out of the question).

The matter was squared away with the University: as far as anyone is concerned, Doctor Michael Redfill is going to study some relatively boring artifact with the help of a few specialist consultants.

"Good evening", - as Mike looks around the laboratory he smirks, - "Seems like the facitlity is adequate for our purposes".

Luke will find that the equipment is a little bit old, but otherwise in good working condition. Given his skills, it will not take the Mekhet long to acquaint himself with the lab equipment. The lab will provide a +2 equipment bonus.

Initially, the petite Daeva lies content to remain seated in the supple leather and observe the architecture of the campus awhile, and she seems in no rush while her driver goes and speaks with others. It isn't too much longer, however, before she slides gracefully out of the car (because she was small enough that the low height of the roadster wasn't troublesome). Ana's snug apparel might have sent certain messages to any observers about what she was there with Dr. Redfill for, but surely such a respectable academic had nothing to worry about from rumor mongers?

And now was time for work of some sort, not idle fascination. She eventually finds her way inside the laboratory after only the slightest moment of being lost in thought at how much the hallway's decor could be improved. Nodding to David and Luke as she enters the room and recognizes them, if perhaps due to their lack of recognizability, she circles around to find a seat at a stool next to David's own perch.

"Where shall we begin?"

Michael rubs the bridge of his nose while thinking about their options.

"Okay. I think that whoever has experience with scientific equipment should help Mr. Caldon with analyzing a sample of the glue. There are also instruments that may help us get a better grasp at the particulars of how the book was made. Microscopes, ultraviolet - the works. Maybe Miss Prieto can head that?"
