Treasure Hunting: The Second Clue

Having collected the second clue to the riddle of the Regency, Callum returned to the Chapter House to meet with his colleagues. This time he hoped that the relative newcomer David Regan might add something to the mix, and put them on the track of the third clue. Maybe he would have some ideas about the final location as well?

Entering the building Cal made a bee line for the library, where he grabbed his notebook and a bunch of texts plus the A to Z of Sacramento. A few maps finished off the pieces, now he just needed a few more players...

Arriving at the Chapterhouse, Teo makes his way up to Private Library. "Good evening!" he says happily to his student as he spots the materials the man has already laid out on the table. The Serpent just grumbles a little at now very familiar presence of the Daeva. "You already have ideas I suspect?"

"Yep, pretty sure Teo. Thought it easiest to assemble our team here." Callum looked down at his notebook. "I'd been looking for any references to Triton that linked in to Sacramento, but the closest I could find were businesses that had no link at all. Then I figured maybe there were alternative interpretations of the old Greek myths."

He grinned and tapped the location on his notepad. "Look what I found, right here in Sac and thematically appropriate too." Cal was pretty pleased with himself, which for a Daeva was to say: radiating with Pride.

Even though she was as interested as her teammates into succeeding in this treasure hunt, Aïleen arrived slightly later than Br Raluca and Callum. Not for the first time, she realized she was getting overextended, and that she would have to get back her focus sooner, rather than later, if she wished to really fulfill her allocated time.

Dismissing those thoughts as she arrived within the Library proper, the female Mekhet quickly walked to the now familiar Kindred, and acknowledged them with a loud - for her - "Good evening." Looking at the pieces brought, she would have blushed, hadn't she done some homework on her side too. It was all in her laptop by her side, though.

"Already busy I see. Any clues ?" she asked, though from the looks on their faces, she already knew the answer.

David was tentative as he rounded the corner and entered the library. His steps were careful, quiet as though he was afraid of intruding on their thought process. But, David remembered he was asked to consult with the rest of the team and he quietly knocked on a nearby table to herald his arrival. Everyone seemed to be there already: the poised Daeva, Brother Raluca, and even Aileen.

Breathing in unnecessarily, an attempt to steel himself and steel his resolve against the beast, David came closer, “Good evening.” A beat, “I apologize if I'm a bit tardy.”

Removing an old, beaten leather satchel and placing it down on a seat; David nodded to each of them. The satchel slumped immediately.

"Aileen! Great, good to see you. Check this out and tell me I'm not crazy." Callum gave her a lop-sided grin that exclaimed 'I know what I'm doing, but humour me'. When the newest member of their little group entered he also received a welcoming smile. "Thanks for coming Supplicant Regan. Maybe you can help us with putting the whole picture together."

Cal grabbed his notebook and showed them the solution he'd come up with for the next part of the puzzle. He was sure he was right, but there was more to be done. "Assuming I'm right, and it feels good, we still need to be working on what the solution to the final resting place of the Regency might be. It has to tie everything together, and I've got a few thoughts. Let's talk about it on the way to the third riddle."

He looked around to see if there were any objections, but didn't think there would be.

Silently walking to the maps and books assembled by Callum, Aïleen nodded to him once close to the Daeva, and immediatly set to work. First, she remembered the riddle

Lo, you have found a humble Spirit of the Air!
Yet, behold and tremble, Child of Night,
As you harken to your second clue: of King Poseidon he is an heir
All Oceans bow before his might.

For I am a goodly Element I shall not hide,
That he is oracular! The First Born.
Ah! But now listen and know: Wisdom shall guide
Your quest to its root under iron and thorn.

Although she was no specialist of Greek Mythology, she had had an interest in all things "water-y", and had read about Poseidon and his progeny. Glad once again for the time she had spent honing her memory, she easily double-checked Callum's speculation, and found them extremely accurate, and likely. She did not dare voice it out yet, though, and merely lifted her head, a smile on the corners of her lips.

She was ready to follow him.

5suxx for Aileen for Teamwork Occult roll

Looking over the Daeva's notes with his two fellow Mekhet, Raluca nods and smiles warmly and is that a bit of pride mixed in? He had chosen his student quite well. They were sure to sure to win the contest. And once the Regency was in hand, perhaps new phases of Study could begin.
"Most impression Callum! Would you not agree cousin?" he directs toward Regan. "Well, I suppose we should make with all haste to the hiding spot."

David was rather methodical in his approach to the puzzle; considering the poem against the domain of Sacramento in and of itself. There was an alacrity to how he came to his conclusion, forming a web of information out of seemingly desperate things. All of those roads he took around his Mind Palace led to the same conclusion. The Mortician silently nodded to Teodor's assertion.

There was one thought that stole in and after considering it, he voiced it, “The next two might have something to do with Fire and Earth, the classic Greek elements.” The first part of the puzzle having to do with Air and this one, Water. With a twinge of concern, David wondered about the potential of fire in their very near future.
