"It's typically happens with the turning of the Seasons." Tally replies to Buck's question. "Nice to meet you, Buck."

"So, how long have you been in Sacramento?" She asks curiously.

He shivers again at the chill in the air as he thinks back on dates, alley ways and time. "It's still the twenty sixth, right? So five, no sorry six, six days now."

"I've been looking for some sign of others since I got out but, well..." He shrugs, not really having the words to express how lost he felt. He ends up settling on something that sounds lame in his head even before he says it out loud. "Lots of people in the city. Hadn't been able to find much until now."

Thao enters the jazzy establishment in formal black suit and tie. He had changed from his medical scrubs to dress attire in the cramped front seat of his Ford Ranger. Thankfully, no one caught his hasty prepping in the nearby parking lot. He smoothed out his lapels and tie before giving a polite nod to what appeared to be a Mortal bouncer by the front. Yet sense of fellowship given by the Freehold Pledge said otherwise. Ensorcelled maybe? Could just have his Mask hardened. Ah would not wanna end up on th' wrong side o' him either way.

The Roaring Twenties aesthetic of the locale certainly appeals to the Chirurgeon. The soft jazz tune on the jukebox feels unusually jolly for a Winter Coronation. Once properly adjusted to the sudden coolnesss, he looks around for a familiar face. So far, Connor and Malcolm are at the bar knocking back drinks. A new face draws his attention, a Broadback talking to Tally. A nice little gathering so far, but no sign of the Sovereigns.

The Chirurgeon sees the Autumn Paladin of Shadows and walks over to him, believing it best to get acquainted with a high ranking member of his Court. He had a few questions. "Evenin' P-paladin. How's th' Winter t-t-treatin' ya? "

It was hard to believe the season had already come and gone; but here Aaren was, at the foot of the Winter Season, sliding out of a taxi and heading into the Blue Note. A shiver raced up Aaren's spine as she pressed her hand to the door; knowing immediately that her payment to Mrs. Rosemary was rendered.

The gilded fairest was intimately familiar with soirees like these and it showed as Aaren glided inside. However, a small puff of air escaped Aaren's lips when she offered Swila an affable hello and smile, her body feeling the temperature drop palpably as she entered Winter's domain.

It was still early yet and as Aaren considered where she would go. Her silver heels tapped against the hard floor, in a rhythm that naturally matched the beat of the jazz tune filling the air. Smoothing a wrinkle from the winter-sky blue peplum dress she wore, Aaren ordered a hot mulled cidar while nodding towards the others already at the bar.

    Mask Strengthened

Dominyk stepped out of the sleek limo. It wasn’t anything special, by god it wasn’t a stretch. As much of a winter he may be, the whole idea of ‘hiding’ never really got to him that well, especially as a fairly famous romance novelist. And he could splurge for a limo, even if it meant making Alicia drive it when she didn’t want to.

There were very few things a smile from him to that woman wouldn’t do.

Instead he stepped out in a Light pink three piece suit with the addition of white gloves. His hair parted on the side as it genuinely fit the style of the bar. As usual his Mask is strengthened and none of his changed features are visible. Pinned to his lapel is a small cluster of Snow Drops held together with a blue ribbon.

On his arm appears the Spring muse dressed in White beads primarily. On her wrist is a similar cluster of snow drops being held in place by a blue ribbon under a thinner white one.

Upon passing through the doorway and the puff of cold air that signals the passing from the outside indoors on the fairly calm and tepid day, Dominyk smiles and nods at the bouncer before entering into the room and letting the actual low heat of the place work it’s way through the layers of clothes he was wearing.

Thank you Lady Mary, where shall we go now?

In all the room wasn’t as full as it normally was when he arrived, but that was just his own curse for arriving earlier than usual to a party such as this. Besides there was something of a sad tone in his voice, perhaps remembrance of another time and place.

Having changed in the bathroom at work, Ava stopped outside the club and peered at her reflection in the front window, making sure her hair was neat. Patting the small bun, she adjusted one of the pins and tucked a bit of damp hair behind her ear before deciding she was presentable. A little more put together than usual in a simple black dress and sharp-toed ankle boots, she made her way inside and tugged her thick, draped sweater a little closer as the temperature dropped.

With a nod and a smile to the very tall man at the door, the Scrivener paused, taking in the space and the Lost present. Admittedly, she had enjoyed the intimacy of the Autumn Coronation; the smaller space and lack of pomp had put her at ease, though she supposed it would've been a bit cramped if more of the Freehold had been in attendance. But the faces here were all familiar, aside from the man talking to Tally, and she spotted Jack quickly. Already has a drink, there's a surprise. Smirking a little, she nodded and waved to Stripes and Thao before heading toward her friend and leaning lightly on the counter beside her. Bumping the Runnerswift's shoulder gently with her own, she grinned. "You look nice. Hey Green, Conner." She nodded to each of them in turn before glancing at Jack's drink and deciding it looked delicious; plus, a little extra warmth wouldn't hurt.

Hands wrapped contentedly around a hot toddy of her own, her gaze caught on the gilt Fairest ( Casitive ). Putting on a friendly smile, her snaggly, slender fish teeth on full display, she held out a drink-warmed hand to shake. "We met briefly at the Fair, but I didn't catch your name. I'm Ava."

I'm sorry that I didn't get to stay long, but it seemed you were swamped anyway.” Aaren adds after releasing Ava's hand. The fairest noticed the slender, needle like teeth and her unconscious thoughts were working to try to place the woman's Seeming. It was a bad habit, but reading people was part and parcel in understanding the desires of others... and hopefully Aaren's own as well.

The mulled cider tickled Aaren's nose with the scent of apples, cinnamon, and a tiny mote of nutmeg. It was close enough to a hot-toddy, but without the brandy. Aaren was still new enough to the community that she wanted to keep her wits about her, instead of becoming an faux pas that's talked about into next year.

Aaren closed her eyes when she shipped it, relishing the taste and the warmth it brought. When she opened her eyes again, the fairest exhaled. The breath was intertwined with a touch of her own magic, wrapping around and falling into the ether as the Gandharva evoked her blessing. Her voice taking on a golden tone to match the delicate gold leaf of her skin.

Catching sight of the book-seller from the fair, Aaren smiled and took Ava's hand, “Aaren, nice to meet you.”

"Nice to meet you too." Taking a sip of her drink, Ava shook her head slightly. "Mm, I think I underestimated how many people would stop by. But it was good, if a little busy." Once she had gotten past the initial nervousness it had even been sort of fun; the selling hadn't bothered her, she sold books all the time, but the symbolic significance of her first public act in the position of Scrivener had not been lost on her. In fact, she had probably thought about it more than all her customers combined.

"What you asked about, though, the Lady of Shalott, have you found what you were looking for?" She took another small sip and surveyed the other woman's face, a sincere interest in the answer to the question she had just asked clear in her gaze.
