(Marina) Moonlight on the Water

Sacramento Marina, in Miller Park, is a sea of calm caught between the river, the highway, rail and the industrial estate. Darkness presses down and shadows loom between the trees that shroud the boat sheds in mystery. Light pools under street lamps and spills forth from the administration building, far off to the left. There is only the ambient growl from the West Side Highway for company as Erich’s limo rolls onto Miller Park Circuit from Front Street.

Apart from their own vehicle, the only other cars are located by the administration building. Miller Park Circuit is empty, lined by the darkened trees. Beyond the trees on the left, a gang plank lead to the covered boat sheds, strung out in long lines like fingers into the waters of the marina.

The moon is out. Low and pregnant in the sky, it dances with the veiling clouds. Silver light dapples the calm waters of the marina.

Lovisa stared out the window at the dark marina and felt almost calm. Mentally, she went slowly into the job role. To stand for her idea. To sell its message. The difficulty was that she was never worried for her life when she introduced her advertising proposals for a boss or a client. Perhaps afraid of being fired, but not to be murdered.

Maybe you're just imagining things.

Probably. But there were too many aspects of this affair that she would dare to be completely relaxed in their company.
Out of habit, she pulled a loose wisp of hair from the chin back around the ear, but it only took a few seconds for the strand of hair to hang loose again.
  "So ... Shall we improvise from here then? "   
Suddenly a completely different thing hit her.
  "What should we call each other? Or is your name ... your .... real names? " 
  How very true names the other now had presented themselves with... But perhaps would the lie get to yet another dimension.

Catherine had to admit that the odd ventrue had a point. Although the Bard couldn’t help smile that the girl (she seemed like a girl, at least) had taken her advice and loosed some of that bun. It wasn’t perfect but it could play the part.

“Well, if I am not mistaken, Mister Passions is a name that some know on the other side of twilight. His assistant, not so much, I suppose I will just be a girl that was picked up at a bar. Why not the name ‘Cat’ for me.”

Would she ever get used to the practice of primarily be identified by her family name? And why did that thought come up all the time. She should have gotten used to it by now.

Something that would fit in both languages. Winter is Vinter.
"Linda Vinter."

She turned her head and looked at the other woman with a little smile.
"Cat. And you're just a girl we picked up. Someone who ... entertains Mr. Passion."
Was his last name chosen by himself?
"Something he has a habit of doing. And I'm his new assistant ... who is really set to retain her job."
Her gaze went to the other two men. Thoughtful.
"And you ... needed no new name as I understood at the planning?"

He really did not feel like serving them a second surname. But Lovisa, err, Linda, sure had a point. He had no real interest in his name being shouted all over the place. Especially here... Heck. What was he to do? No. The boat should remain anonymous for as long as he could manage. He did not trust these people. Why should he.

Erich chuckles, looking at the handle.

"Hmm... I'm Mr. Passions. I don't need to remember names, that's what your for Wendy." He grins at Lovisa. "C'mon Lucy, let's go.

He points at the door, and waits. A rich, snobby asshole. Yep Erich can play that beautifully.

Catherine couldn’t help but smile at the remarks. It was true though, and she was just hanger on number one. “Should we not let the other too off earlier, if they are to infiltrate the target. Just so they could get into position?”

But who was she to give out orders, she was just the escort-apparent. Of course, Cat was the one who opened the door.

His surname wouldn't shorten well to save his life, so something else would have to do. "Go with Passero if I need a name at all in this." A nickname given to him by his regnant long ago, the meaning of which would be clear to those who spoke Italian in the group.

With the door being opened Erich smiled at Cat. "Let's enjoy the evening!" He reached into the fridge and pulled out a bottle of opened, half-empty champgne. Stepping out from the car he reached back in to help out/drag Catherine out of the car after him.

If she obliges he slides his arm around her and leads her towards the water, motioning with the bottle in his hand.

"Isn't it a spectacular night?"
