Three out of Four changelings leaned into the subtle enticing scents of the flora of the hedge, their feet shuffling -- unnoticeable to themselves -- towards the break in the bricks.

Malory, on the other hand, could see the danger of the hedge and only barely managed to throw off it’s pull.

Ava, Lou, Jack please roll me a [RES + Comp - 2] to resist the hedge again. With a Suxx you may roll me an Initiative. You may not use WP on this roll, because you don’t want to resist.

    Malory, please roll me Initiative

Jack nose twitched at the succulent aroma the lured her forward. Her feet brought her closer the break in reality. She licked her lips lifting one hand as if to touch it, as if to pluck a hedge fruit.

A strange sound hummed in the distance.

Jack watched as the soft light danced from the Arcadian realm, oblivious to the thornes. The Light swept around her finger tips and down her arm. It was comforting, entrancing, a break from the chaos....

A far off scream. A Nagging sensation which she pushed aside.

Jack smiled watching the light that played on her flesh that only she could see. She looked the hedge which called her, to safety, to a new home.

    RUN!

Suddenly the moment of peace shattered. Jacks eyes went wide, her pupils dilating to like nickles. Her heart pounded in her throat and the adrenaline hit her like train.

She jumped back letting out an awkward grunt as the illusion fell from her.

"Fuck" She felt like a fool, an idiot, turning scarlet at the cheeks as she looked to the others. She couldn't linger on the feeling for long...she had to be ready.

A cold bead of sweat running down her spine, Mal took refuge in recalcitrance. Wrapping herself in all her hot-headed, stubborn refusal to just settle down and do what she was told. Wearing it like armour. The stupefied expressions and unconscious movements of her more... harmonious companions suggested they were not so lucky in their convictions.

Not content to simply wait for it's prey, the hedge seemed to be coming for them. The coppery sent of blood flooded her nostrils as thin tendrils coiled around their ankles. Bleeding them. Confident enough in it's snare that the pain would not be enough to snap them out of it.

"Nope." She growled, balling her fists. Indignation blooming, stronger this time, with a target far less instinctively awe-inspiring than the dragon to vent itself upon. Not today. Not on her watch. No. More.

They were part of her pack. Hers. Ava lived with her. Lou was her friend. Jack... fuck it. What little she had in this world, she held close. Seized it with the instinctual avarice of the predator, and like a predator, she would rend the world about her bare to defend what was Hers.

"Nope." she growled, the tiny hunterheart putting her shoulder in to barge between Lou and Ava. "Nope." she repeated again. A mantra of defiance, of denial, of hard-headed refusal to accept the hand she had been dealt. There was a shoe jammed in the rift in reality. Incongruous in it's normality against the corona of colours painting jagged, tooth-like thorns, and she was going to yank it out.

There was no way it could be that simple. But she was no occultist, no expert in hedge-lore. She was just a stubborn idiot, determined to do something to find a little hope on this rat-fuck of a day.

"Nope." Her eyes caught movement in amongst the thorns. The glimmer of light catching on eyes. Familiar eyes. She tensed. Hunkering down, the shorn stubble of hackles rising. Her lips peeling back in a savage snarl. Unwilling to show fear. Unwilling to show hesitation. Staring it down. Wolf to wolf. Daring it to make the first move. Stalling for the precious seconds to...

"Nope!" She screamed in it's face, lashing out. Grabbing the heel of the shoe and yanking at it with all her might.

The overly sweet taste of the butterscotch hurt her teeth, the warning ache of too much sugar in one place not quite enough to distract her from the tightening knot of her stomach. Swallowing again, she fidgeted with the bright yellow wrapper, rubbing it between her fingers and trying to focus on something other than her hunger. The gap in the wall took her attention with ease, the sight of it feeling something like a promise - you can have what you want, you just need to step a little closer.

There was something horribly familiar about that. The more she tried to figure out what it was, the harder she stared into the gap in the wall and the thorns beyond, trying to jog her memory. Certain it was important, she chased it from thought to thought, only to keep losing it just as she was certain she was about to recall.

Hungry, forgetful and frustrated, the brush of a shoulder against her arm was an instant and unwelcome distraction. Snapping her attention down to tell whoever was touching her to get off, she blinked when she recognized Malory. That was right, she was here with Malory. And Llewellyn, who looked about as preoccupied as she felt. Jack's swearing brought her back to the moment completely and awareness flooded her.

Shame was the prevalent emotion, shame at being ensnared so easily, but there was something else that felt remarkably like betrayal. Looking down at the cheerful yellow wrapper in her hand, Ava pressed her tongue to the butterscotch and grimaced. That was something she'd carve out time to consider later, but for now while the frustration had evaporated, it was replaced anger at being taken advantage of.

"I hope whatever you pull out of there is edible, Mal." Her voice was low and probably the closest it could come to a growl. Since whatever Mal was grabbing looked remarkably like a shoe there was probably little hope; even if it was attached to someone, still out of luck. But there were any number of things she wouldn't mind allowing to believe she might eat them.

Finish the deal. Square your debts... The hedge promised seductively, clouding his thoughts with guilt.

    Another step.

His arms slumped by his side, almost zombie-like, and his jaw dropped slightly, a slight trickle of drool forming around the side of his mouth.

    Another sluggish step.

Maybe it was Mal's somewhat aggressive bump, or maybe it was her roar at the hedge, but suddenly Llewelyn found himself in control again, and dangerously close to the enticing tear. He blinked in suprise, looking right at Mal in slight shock. Did Mal just save me?
"Fuck that." He muttered to noone in particular, the fogginess clouding his brain suddenly disappearing, only to be replaced by a rising sensation of panic. And I was half a dozen steps away from whatever the fuck that is. Lou's eyes widened slightly at the revelation. We've got to close this. Now.

As Malory moved to the shoe, and the great pull seemed to actually put strain on the shoe itself. Beyond the thorns (that actually seemed to open just for the Hunterheart as she neared) the faint breeze seemed to stop, though the small pinpricks were still there and easily found; as were the second and third set of the Alpha.
Please roll me a [STR + STA]

Behind the Hunterheart the other three came to their senses, moments later their backs hit the ground, a sharp pain moving through their legs as they were dragged another few inches forward.
Ava, Jack, Lou you are all now Prone and feet first towards the hedge, Take 2 bashing.

After Malory’s roll initiatives will start as follows:
    Lou (14) • Malory (9) • Jack (8) • Ava (7)

Llewelyn's legs lost control, causing him to jerk awkwardly towards the hedge, and then crash down, smacking his knees on the ground with a crack. "Urghh" He groaned, attempting to rise back up to his feet again.

Should the tear not decide to slap him again, Llewelyn will stand up and try and see what he's dealing with

'Big' Lou you don't see anything, please update your signature.

As Llew struggles to stand up he is knocked flat again as his feet once more get pulled out from underneath him, right as the shoe managed to pop free in the young hunterheart's hands.

The Curling of the bricks to the hedge turn catching Llew's leg on one side and his body on the other.
