Opportunity Knocks

[Al-Adin]

Out of the gate, in a snarl of charred branches and limbs, a man sized monkey tumbles through. A brown tail and fluffy round ears on the top of its head immediately puts off any notion of 'man in a suit'. Its feet are covered in blood, both new and old, and hundreds of scratches appear all over its face and arms, most of them slowly oozing blood. The monkey-man rolls several times before finally coming to a rest near the group. It stands up slowly, as though it is still trying to orient itself. The creature could be mistaken for a newly escaped changeling, but then the group hears the sounds of children laughing quietly in the distance.
The Monkey-man looks at the group, his eyes showing no recognition, until they turn to the last member.
"Tally?" It says, with a hint of a smile on its face.

After a time, Green manages to compose himself. He slowly hauls himself to his feet and appraises himself. Grunting, he strips off the ruined greatcoat and glares as the ragged remnants of the backpack. He lumbers to the nearest public bin and thrusts the lot in the canister.

He does his best not to look at the carnage towards where the Four Seasons once stood.

Stripes relaxes at Tally's words, his cheeks flushing red. Mute. That explained the silent approach.

"Sorry," Stripes apologizes as he accepts Vincent's handshake.

More changelings are approaching, and Stripes takes a moment to get stock of them. Al he's heard about in passing at least, and he gives the monkey a nod and a worried look for the injuries he's sporting. He spots Green getting to his feet and tossing something into a trashcan. The tiger does his best to wave the giant over, he doesn't look all that much better than Al.

Nova he gives a curious look at. Something seems a bit familiar about her, something in her voice. He's not sure whether he fully recalls from where or not yet... As she offers help, he breathes out a sigh of relief. At least there don't seem to be any enemies.

Other than those hobgoblins that rushed out of the gate. Those would probably need some taking care of and soon.

"Help's good," Stripes says to Nova.

He looks in the direction Vincent indicates and tenses. The burning wreckage of the Four Seasons, smoke rising into the air...

"I just... dunno where we should go first," he admits, nervously picking at his claws.

The piece of paper Vincent holds out appears to be part of a page torn from a book. Anyone attempting to read it can just make out part of a passage describing a serpentine creature of fire and madness. Written in a style reminiscent of Stephen King, it relates the creature's intent to destroy the small New England town which is the apparent setting. The flip side relates a scene of carnage and the confusion of the protagonists, but little else. They might wonder why this torn page was found near the unresponsive bird.

As the changelings meet and greet one another, they might notice the shapes in the shadows huddle together before some appear to slip off, spreading out from the memorial. However, they definitely see one of the two-legged creatures step into the fading light and walk towards them flanked by two of his fellows. The rather simian-appearing creatures wear dirty, tattered clothing as well as crude masks that look to have been woven from twigs and dry grass. The lead hobgoblin raises its hand as it speaks.

"I greet you I do. We seek the property of our mmmaster we mmmust. Mmmayhaps you can help us you will."

"Al? AL! Glad to see you." Tally says to her friend, noting the Elemental doing his best not to look towards the Freehold's hotel. As she does some introductions, "Al, this is Stripes, Vincent, and ah... I didn't get your name."

She glances at Nova, hoping the other woman will introduce herself, and then she notices that Vincent is holding something out to her. Puzzled, she reaches out and looks upon both sides of it with a slight frown, although the creature of fire hits a little close to home as it reminds her of what has become of the Freehold. She folds it back up while turning her attention to the trio who approaches their group, Hobs most likely.

She takes a moment before addressing the trio as politely as she can, "Perhaps we can, what is it that you seek?"

There is a time to be alone and a time to be surrounded by friends and allies. Green sees the gathering Lost, and insofar as he has seen a number of them at Freehold functions, he deduces they will be friends. The mountain is badly in need of friends right now. Hell! Any Lost who owned allegiance to the 'Hold would be in need of a friendly face, right now! He returns the wave and makes his ponderous way over.

Suspicion clouds his mind as the hobs make their approach. He doesn't show it, not really. His rock hard face has a limited set of expressions and a scowl isn't a sign of suspicion, not when you scowl at a lot of things. The mountain can't hide his clenched fists though.

Nova nodded at the introductions, her mind taking the connections and attaching them to what she already had. At Vincent’s look she tilted her own head back, the slight twisting of her own face into confusion, she really couldn’t get a good read on him.

She looks at stripes and places him into her mind before her eyes are caught by the small creatures approaching. “Astra.” she says as an after thought as she watches the creatures and it’s stick clothes as it comes closer.

“And who is your master?” The manikin asked the hob, and why would you want to do what he says?

Al-Adin runs over and crushes Tally in a big hug, swinging her around. "I missed you!" He smiles, the smile of a man seeing an old friend after a long time alone. He doesn't seem to bothered with the drops of blood that are still dripping from his wounds. "Nice to meet you Stripes and Vincent and Astra!"
And then the hobgoblins approach. Tally takes the lead, so he stands tall next to her, with a friendly face.
"Hiya." He returns their greetings.
