"You and me both." He gave her a smile as he reminded her of their day training with the Arrows. At the approach of another person he retracted his hand from Ariadne's arm and turned to face the newcomer.
"Nice to meet you Teotl. I'm Halo." The Obrimos offered his hand to the other man, glad to be meeting another Guardian in Sacramento but also wondering what the guy was all about.
Teotl nods, understanding the situation. "You've my sympathy," he says simply. "If there's anythin' that needs working on in regards to that, I'm willing to step up."
He takes Halo's hand in his and gives it a firm, honest man's grip. "Good to meet you Halo. So what's procedure in these get togethers here? Back in Texas, I was expected to sit down and stay quiet unless asked a question. That hold true here?" The question is directed about evenly to the both of them. The caucus was larger back in Austin, unless there were a lot of other Guardians lurking around the room, having him sit in respectful silence during formal meetings seemed a good way to waste time.

Ariadne rises from her chair to stand along with Halo and Teotl. "We'll have to talk with the others who wee there and then figure out a plan."
A red eyebrow rises at Teotl's description of his old caucus. "I want everyone's opinion at meetings. As far as I am concerned once you are past the curtains you are capable enough to have an opinion in matters." The concept of an iron rule doesn't appeal to Ariadne nor does she see the value in keeping new voices silent. The Veil needs all perspectives to remain safe.
"Sure thing boss." Halo nodded at Ariadne's comment, before turning his attention to grin at the new Guardian who shook his hand properly. "Not like there's so many of us we need to form an orderly queue anyhow." He raised an eyebrow, but there was less humour in his face than he would have liked to express. Samael's death had left them even more overworked than they had been before.
"We've got a few things going down around town that need some Veiling. Maybe before we get into that you can tell us your story?" Guess I'm not the new guy any more. Cool.
"Sure thin'. Shook off the sandman in the wild places between high school and university while I was backpacking through Mexico." Despite the spellcraft that's up to keep the conversation private, Teotl slips into easy euphemisms as a precautionary measure. "I was picked out of the maze while I was tryin' to make sense of things and inducted, it took a little under a year before I was told about the ravens. I joined a co-ed group that was about a sixty/forty split between libertine and others, but everyone was involved in the university one way or another."
"I spent a lot of my free time workin' in the maze until the throne made a push. Casualties on both sides, but they won out. The ones they didn't kill were expelled or fired and we split up. Most moved right away, I stuck around for a bit to tie up some loose ends before I did the same." He covers his time as a Guardian in broad strokes, he had just met these people moments ago. "This was one of the directions that the others didn't split off to. Due to the circumstances, I figured that it would be wisest to keep apart."
"Thanks for that, nice to know a bit of background. I've been in town for about 8 montsh now, give or take." Halo gave a little smile at the info, the guy's cover was entertaining at least. "What's your skill set?" He raised an eyebrow. You never knew with Guardians, there was so much potential.
"Suitable to fieldwork and managing aspects of the Labyrinth." Teotl responds. "My teachers told me that specialization was for insects and politicians. I haven't found any reason to disagree with that assessment yet. As well, I'm a student of the Gross aspect of the Stone book."

Ariadnel laughs quietly at Teotl's description of specialists. "I was never taught that...though it probably would have helped. There was an afternoon with some of the local cops and I felt silly being there." She shakes her head. "That is going to have to change. Though if either of are you are interested in learning a bit I can help." Ariadne taps the side of her head at the word learning.
"Anywho. Fieldwork and maze making are going to go hand in hand for a while. We can't let either slip with our numbers."
Teotl shakes his head. "I don't think I'll have enough time for that in the foreseeable future." Mind magic just didn't come to him easily, if and when he did put in the time to learn it, it would eat up a whole lot of his time. "If either of you have need of it, I can teach something that will let us leave notes and communicate in a way that only we can see. It's not perfect, but I've used it for a lot of clandestine work in the past." Almost perfect invisible ink had multiple obvious uses, it was one of those things that was useful but not necessary. And it wasn't something that guaranteed security all on it's own, anyone with the right kind of sight could see it.
"Currently, I'm doing some preliminary investigation into the power outages down in Florin. I'm also looking to see if there's any societies that I can slip into without making a fuss. There's nothing to report yet on either front, once there is, I'll inform you."
Halo just chuckled at the quip about specialists. "That sort of thing sure makes a good soundbite. Until you find yourself wishing you'd paid more attention in some class or other that might save your life." He shrugged, not willing to say more about what he thought about that particular idea.
"Count me in as being interested in that sort of learning, but we can talk about that any time." A smile for his cabal mate before returning to the point at hand.
"I've been following up on a weird incident that appears to be a kidnapping. Tracked down a house in the suburbs to check out based on a contact phone number, and there's another number that needs to be investigated. Got some contacts in the digital media who help me out from time to time, but I really need to spend some more time establishing my base now I've been in town a while."
