(1303) Coronation of Spring

Heath's jaw hit the floor as he stared at the proceedings, and as the crown was placed on Violet's head. "She's the new Spring Queen," he said aloud to himself with an airy disbelief. Now that was a hell of a promotion. There was no denying that Violet looked the part, all glamorous and regal, her presence exuding confidence and refinement. Still, it seemed rather sudden to the Minstrel who had already gotten used to thinking of Mrs. Rosemary as the Queen Bee. But Heath was happy for Violet and he fully intended to support her.

Taking out a noisemaker from his coat pocket, Heath blows on it with a loud celebratory toot that he had planned to make for Mrs. Rosemary. "Woo!" cheered the Joyeux gaily. Heath wastes no time in moving away from the tables to reswear his oath before the new Queen.

Standing before her he winks playfully at Violet before reciting the Freehold Oath he had sworn one year ago.

Stripes joins the applause, but his confusion is apparent. He can't help but look to Perry and Jack at this change.

It wasn't the first time he'd seen the crown place don a new ruler. His own court had gone through one not too long ago, but that had been expected with Rick Pereg's vanishing. Practically announced, and welcomed across the freehold with Terri taking up the crown of Autumn.

Fortunately he has two Springs to ask nearby regarding this shocking announcement. His attention is on them, though keeps darting back to Rosemary and now Violet.

For some reason he can't quite place his eyes wander back to the Fairest with almost alarming frequency. He's not entirely sure it's just because she's the new Spring monarch either...

With the crown on a new leader, Stripes is looking at Perry and Jack in confusion. He's joined in the applause, but his eyes keep travelling back to Queen... former Queen Rosemary.

"Um... did Spring court plan this or something?" he asks, looking back to Violet then to the two springs before him. "Like a surprise or something? Cuz I thought Rosemary was in charge..."

The tiger trails off, unsure what else to say. It's clear he isn't angry or anything, just confused at the unannounced change over.

Magnus adds to the applause, clapping his hands forcefully in adamant approval of the new Queen but remaining quiet otherwise. It was not for Winter to cheer. He slips a now creased and tattered card from his pocket and glances at the number scrawled in an elegant hand. Surely, now that she was Queen, she did not wish to hear from a crotchety old man of Winter, but the card made him smile for a moment. It wasn't like he'd ever garner the courage to call in any case. Silently he slips the card back into his pocket and returns to his cake.

Taking another bite his glance falls once more on Mrs. Rosemary. She seemed so content to be back to providing good food and service to the Freehold in her way. He was glad for her, though something about the entire tableau struck him as a touch sad.

Both of Perry's eyebrows went up in surprise for a moment; he'd known nothing of this. Then again, if it hadn't been Mrs. R's desire to share, then that was fine by him.

Looking at Violet for a moment as the Crown was placed on her head and the magical change of the throne room occurred, he wondered what the future of Spring would have in store for them under their new monarch.

Applauding, he whistled loudly and called out, "Long live the Queen!" and shot Violet a big playful wink before returning to his discussion with Jack and Stripes.

Perry looked over to Jack for a moment, then back to Stripes. "Not that I knew of, but if it is Mrs. Rosemary's and Violet's wish, then that's good by me," the Shadowsoul said with a little shrug and smile. He would always respect Mrs. Rosemary - she was a queen of cuisine, and the one who had helped him to chase his own desires at the very start, besides. She would always be respected.

LeBlanc was new in town, but her mastery of their Court's ideals was plain in her Mantle. He was interested in seeing how Spring would look in months to come.

Anya had been more than a little confused when the monarchs had begun to make their way up to the stage. Lou had told her that Ms Rosemary was the leader of the Spring Changelings; yet the woman seemed in no hurry to take her place for the change of seasons. She was beginning to wonder if Lou hadn't been having a little fun with her when a slight man came forward with the crown on a pillow.

She watches as Katrin takes the crown and places it on Violet's head; but she also watches the reactions of the others in the room. From the various reactions, Anya guessed it was a shock for more than just her. She claps politely after the new Spring Monarach makes her speech, but otherwise remains respectfully quiet. The Ogresses wasn't the "hoot and howler" sort...

As other members of the Freehold make their way to either swear or reaffirm their Oaths, Anya gives Lou a quick nod of the head before moving over to join the line. She had no qualms about taking the oath; and it had surprised her when Lou told her that there was those that had caused a scene about it. At least she could get one of her goals accomplished tonight, and become a recognized member of the Freehold...

And that'd be... our new French Queen? Were we annexed or something? Mary ponders, suddenly confused by overhearing the World Beyond the Table Cloth. But she just sat and absorbed the tears, not moving. Were she to wax philosophically on the subject, this would actually be fulfilling her freehold oath in the only way she knew how. So if the last one expired while she was down here, fulfilling her role as a improvised handkerchief, so be it. She was more of a lover than a fighter, but if conveniently placed warm body were added as a category, she would be better suited to that one.
