(Archangels) Burgers on Tuesday

The broccoli was one of those side ideas, along with the other various vegetables, they were mostly out of season, but that was what grocery markets were for.

Vaeltia lived in a cozy third story apartment, it wasn’t her father’s duplex, but it was hers and she liked the format of it all. The apartment was lit half in flame and half in electricity and various design and art elements through out it. Four ‘rooms’ of a mostly open floor plan, it was something she liked.

And today she was inviting people over.

The table was set for five, one really only there out of respect the others for people who would actually be eating.

She was in the kitchen dealing with hamburgers of the not barbecue variety as she waited for her guests to arrive. At least she knew they would be better than West’s charcoal burgers.

[Leo Lockheart]

Leo arrived first with the dull thud of a boot hitting a door. He had 2 liter bottles of soda in each hand and knew better then to try and knock with them. He also had two more bottles in his backpack.

'Wonder what Mr. Shooty would do if one of these blew up in his face.' The answer would seem obvious, and Leo would never try it in someone else's home. Still, that didn't stop the mental image from amusing him while he waited.

I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a burger today.

The phrase rolled around in West's head as he stepped off the bus.

He was dressed in one of his navy suits, unfashionably rumpled. He looked like a used car salesman, or insurance adjuster, and blended into the scenery until making his way up to the apartment.

Seeing Leo, he realized he hadn't brought anything, and felt a twinge of chagrin at his obliviousness to social niceties.

Well, it wasn't like Vaeltia ever brought anything over, right?

"Hi."

Clinically, he noted both of Leo's hands were occupied.

[Vae]

Vaeltia swung the door open without a flourish.

“Oh, hey you both made it, and on time too. Points.” Though there was a small piece of wonder how Leo had found the place. She figured it was a bus thing, but made a mental note to not leave any blood or hair lying around at circle again.

She nodded before allowing them entrance to the apartment. Her hair was pulled back in it’s increasingly regular tight pony tail, the few pieces of her bangs that weren’t yet long enough to reach all the way back were tucked behind her ears.

Vaeltia checked the hall after they had entered before closing it.

“You can put those on the table, Leo ( Xander ). It’s been a spell, West , how are Souxie and Robert?”

"Hey." Leo said with a smile. He felt a bit underdressed in his jeans and hoody when West came up in his suit. Meh. Whatever. It's not like he'd have worn a suit anyway.

When the door opens Leo greets Vae with a friendly "Hello." and makes his way to the table. He sets the two bottles down, then procures another two from his backpack. He looks around the open space as he does so. It was a nice place. The candles and such were a nice touch, though the art was also interesting. Coarse the art was also expected after the tour of the Circle. Why else would she care if he painted?

He listened curiously to the conversation that was being started. The only thing he really knew about West was he was the Magister. Well, that and he was a shooty person.

[West (The Mage)]

Somewhat relieved that Leo hadn't rolled into some small talk, West was happy to follow him inside.

He had an overwhelming urge to flop onto the couch, a physical reaction to the stress of being social. He did not, because in his mental catalog of how one is expected to behave, that was a no-no. He nodded, looking around, resisting a second urge to put his hands in his pockets.

"Bickering," he answered.

There was a reason he'd named them such.

"So, uh, who all's coming?"

He didn't resist the last urge, giving the tip of Vaeltia's pony tail a tiny little tug.

“Ow.” It was a mostly playful response. It could have been worse, after all, Robert did have that habit of biting her hair as well.

“You, Leo, Weavebreaker . I’d have invited Samael, but the Æthernet declared an obit for him as well as the body ending up in a morgue. Something about a doll house. I guess he’ll be with us in spirit then.”

She sighed, she had been trying to repress an actual response to what she had read.

“Leo, still underage?” she asked the youngest Arrow. “ West , I have your usual in the fridge, if you don’t mind helping me move food and such to the table.”

[Weavebreaker]

With a bag full of goodies slung over her forearm and her hand holding a pitcher of water with sliced cucumbers and oranges, Weavebreaker knocked upon the door. It took her a lot of thought on what to bring but in the end she settled for a batch of brownies and some devil's food cookies. She glanced down to the plastic bag hoping that dessert had not already been covered.

When Weavebreaker appeared with foodstuffs as well, West began to wonder if he'd forgotten something.

"Hi," he said to the new arrival.

He fell silent as he fished his phone out and re-read the text.

Ah, shit.

"Um, yeah, sure," he answered Vaeltia as he began to assist. It was the least he could do, now. In his defense, he wasn't invited to many things like this -- as if that had anything to do with being able to read a text.

"Samael's... dead?"

He'd seen enough dead for the words to be clinical, but there was an undertone of regret. The man had seemed friendly, and the closest he'd come to a conversation with someone new in a while.

Leo raised an eyebrow to the ponytale tug. It was an odd move, but Vae seemed not to mind too much.

"Yeah." Leo says to Vae, his tone just slightly disappointed.

He looked up to see Weavebreaker as she entered the apartment. After a polite "Hello." Leo fell back to silence for a moment. He figured Samaels' death was a matter for the two senior Archangels to discuss if they wanted to. Leo never met the guy, so he figured he'd just give them the chance to talk.
