Tam felt the rhythm of the game, but was still not grasping the subtleties.

"I'm sorry Tam," Phrym sighs as she stops the ball, then snatches it up.
"I probably have to be a lot clearer. You need to take a second person if you're going to be out at night or investigating supernal stuff. I know things seem calm right now, but as I understand it the Arrows are coming down off of some really ugly losses right now."
"Someone's trying to kill our people Tam. I doubt they can't find and get to you in Shadow, and we just don't need to lose more people. I don't think we can handle that right now."
Phrym turns, releasing the ball low and with a twist of her hips drives her racket into the projectile. She seems to be much more intense, maybe even a little withdrawn.
Tam takes a -5 penalty to her next Athletics roll

Tam lets the ball go, putting a hand on her hip.
"I didn't say I was going solo." Her tone is little defensive, but not mean. "I just don't know that many mages, yet. Let me know who else can handle spirits and I will hook up with them. In the mean time, I'd like to use Mysterium resources to do some research on the Guantlet. If you know someone who can help me with the research, I would appreciate that, too."
She walks over to the ball and picks it up. As she tosses the ball to Phrymides, she says, "I’m not very good with research."

-sigh- "Tam, you don't need to be like that. You didn't do anything wrong. I just want to make sure you keep safe."
"But it's also not fair for you to assume we're going to be behind you on this right now. You're going to need to ask us..."
"Especially because right now we don't have the resources to spare for your investigation."

"I'm sorry," says Tam. Her shoulders slump a little. She inhales deep and puts on a smile. "Okay, as long as the whole Gauntlet thing is acknowledged, not ignored as some debatable theory, I'll direct my attention to more material priorities. What do you need? What can I do to help?" Her tone is sincere.

"Well, we've got a major investigation coming up. And I hear that the Ladder and the Arrows are considering a pretty big operation themselves."

"I wouldn't blame them for waiting."
