John arrives outside Pipeworks a little before six, keen to get going, with his gear and a change of clothing in a rucksack slung over one shoulder. Though he enjoys climbing solo, he's looking forward to this group outing, and hopes that most of those who signed up don't change their minds. The Darkling hadn't recognised a few of the names on the list, and was curious to meet the people behind them.

Wearing her usual training attire of tight black pants and bright orange hoody with her climbing sneakers, Terri smiles as she sees John waiting outside Pipeworks. Skipping up to the Darkling, she has quite a bounce in her step.
"Howdy, John. Great idea this, I'm so excited. How's it going?"

Peering at the gym as he showed up, Perry couldn't help but grin. He was dead excited and he couldn't wait to get climbing. The Shadowsoul wore some navy blue sweatpants and an old blue t-shirt that said YALE LAW across the front, as well as some nice athletic shoes with decent traction.
He looked around to find the others and quickly came across the brightly-dressed Terri Nutkins and the event organizer, John. "Hey guys, how are you?" he greeted them, giving them a bright wave.
Shin wandered up from the direction of the nearest bus stop. He was dressed far more simply than he had been at the Winter Coronation - he looked a lot like a student in his black Cali State sweats and a grey hoodie - and seemed far more comfortable for it. At least he didn't have to worry about the security deposit on these clothes!
He almost stopped short when he saw that the Autumn Queen was there as well. Her name hadn't been on the list when he'd signed up! But he knew that it would be rude to simply leave now, and besides, John had promised to introduce them at some point.
"Ah. Hello, John, Perry." He said, and only just stopped himself from dropping to his knees and bowing to the Queen. Instead, he tucked his hands into his pockets and inclined his head deeply to Terri. "And you, 秋女王. It... ahh, is an honor to meet you."
Danny was dressed much the same as he always was, because he always wore a heavy leather coat over most of his clothing, which obscured quite a lot anyway. As he entered the Pipeworks, leaning on his ebony cane, one long fingered hand unfastened the buttons.
Beneath it, he was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. It was very uncharacteristic of the Smith, and if he hadn't been suffused with the crystal clarity of the heart of the Antlion, he wouldn't have been able to bear standing there without his breastplate. With that confidence, he was certain that everything would be quite alright.
"Hello, everyone. John, it seems you got rather a good turn out," the Smith said pleasantly. He'd checked the sign up sheet out of curiosity.

Leah made her way to the Pipeworks with her climbing gear in a bag that hung from her shoulder. Her clothing for the evening was a black pair of yoga pants with a black tank top, under a dark green hoodie. She was a little surprised by the new faces she sees as she approaches, and slows her steps, suddenly feeling nervous and unsure of her decision to join the gathering. But seeing the familiar faces of John, Perry and Danny put her at ease a little as she gets close enough, Hey all. Was all she said.
The Darkling's face lights up as the first few of the group arrive, though they were still waiting for half of the names on the sign up sheet. Smiling at Terri's bouncy enthusiasm, he replies, "Things are going pretty well. Have to say, I knew we had a few climbers, but I didn't expect quite so many names on the sign-up! Certainly no bad thing."
Returning Perry's greeting, John assures the lawyer that he is "Fine, thanks. Yourself?" before turning to the two newcomers to the Freehold. It sounds as if Shin Wei has met Perry before, so he introduces them to his Queen, instead."Terri, this is Shin Wei and Leah Spencer, who've recently arrived in Sacramento. Shin, Leah, this is Terri Nutkins, who I think I already have mentioned, before. She runs Treetop Fashions near McKinley Park."
Catching sight of Danny, he raises a long-fingered hand in greeting, mildly surprised at the lack of the hedgespun breastplate he had never seen the Smith without. Of course, it wasn't practical climbing wear, but it was so integral to John's mental image of Danny that the Wizened looked a little odd without it. "It does indeed, Danny! Good to see you could make it." Turning slightly toward the Foo Dog again, he continues, "Have you met Shin Wei, yet?"
Pleased at the number who'd turned up, he glances towards the door.
"There's still a few left to arrive. Anya and Caster, and a few I don't know." he counts them off on multi-jointed fingers, making sure he remembers them all. "Llewelyn Jackson, Lou Forrester, Degnar, and Huntress, though I'm not sure if that last one's a nickname or not."

Terri gave Perry and Danny a wink, glad they had both decided to take part. She was eager to see how her soon-to-be Paladin had been getting on with his training.
Being introduced by John was quite a relief, and Terri smiled warmly to both newcomers. It was looking like she had chosen her Legate wisely.
"Good day to you both, a pleasure to meet you," Terri said honestly before looking to Shin.
"May I ask what it means, that word you used?" Trying not to be too authoritative, Terri was eager not to find herself in some type of trouble for not acting accordingly, or respectfully of another's way.
"Uh..." The Elemental didn't seem quite sure how to respond to that. He opened his mouth, paused, then closed it again and stood still for a moment, thinking. Finally, he reached into his pocket, fumbled around for the stub of a pencil and a small scrap of paper (a receipt from McDonalds), and scribbled something down. He tried folding the paper into the delicate "Boat of Heaven" arrangement the scribes had used to deliver messages to his Master, but ended up just mashing it into a roughly-folded square. Not really suitable for nobility, but it was the best he could do with his thick fingers.
He held the paper out for Terri and looked apologetic. "Do not apologize for not knowing the meaning. I, ah, speak a very obscure dialect."
Obscure, if obscure could be meant to mean "not spoken for a few thousand years"... It had made things very difficult for him in China, but here it was a safe language for him to code his rather over-formal quirks in, since the chance of anyone recognizing it was almost non-existent.

Anya strolled up to the pipe works with and quickly scanned the faces of the Lost who had already arrived. Comparing the names to the sign-up sheet, she judged that while not one of the first nor was she late to the outing. While she had heard of the pipeworks prior to her visit that day, it was not a place she was overly familiar with personally. Climbing in fact, was not something she had tried before.
Well, not for any enjoyable reasons.
No, mountainous terrain was flown over, not scaled, wasn't it?
She raised a taloned hand in greeting to the others.
"Hello, everyone."
