I don't know if this is the proper place for this thread, or if it'd be better done as a social scene. I put it here because I'll be needing ST input. Basically, Doc Swift feels he's waited too long to start on the research, waiting for others, so he's going ahead with it as requested.

Dr. Swift was grateful that it was once more Winter. It meant that the sun was down much earlier and with the end of that idiotic daylight savings time bullshit he could actually have some time with various Kine institutions open to the public. So, having gotten his early nightly routine out of the way, he heads over to the University library with a rather confusing and questionably old book.

He nods to the desk clerk as he enters, noting that he still has several hours before the library closes near midnight. And thank the gods for cramming students... Acquiring access to a private study room he then moves to pick up a few books from the stacks, hoping to find a first edition copy of Grimm's Fairytales.

Once settled into his room with his materials he sends a brief message to Max Heinz and then begins to methodically examine the text itself, comparing it to the original text - or the closest thing he can find. The investigation had already turned up a hidden message repeating through the text, but perhaps a deeper examination would reveal more.

Inside his head, the beast raged against this calm, mundane bullcrap. It wanted blood and the night, but Dr. Swift was having none of that.

I'm not certain which ST to contact. Should we handle this as an extended research, or an investigation based roll? I'm not certain.

Dr. Swift hits the books. He starts by comparing the book to an official copy of the Grimm's Fairytales and has several other books nearby that should help out. The hours tick by and he quickly looses track of time, when he glances up from his work it's shortly after 10pm.

The doctor feels as if he's getting somewhere, as if he's on the verge of a breakthrough. Hours pass. When he realizes he's read the same passage over four times, he realizes he's hit a wall.

The target threshold was not met...

Dr. Swift gives his head a shake and rubs a finger over his eyes. He decides to get up and take a brief walk about the stacks to clear his head. Just because Vampires could sit still for hours without muscle cramps didn't mean motion wasn't good for a stagnant mind. After five to ten minutes he returns to his task. There was still another hour left before the library closed for the evening. And if he didn't make any more progress tonight, there was always tomorrow...

Unfortunately, the doctor is unable to pierce the secrets before the librarian shoos him out to close...

Sighing to himself as his last hour comes to a close, Dr. Swift packs up his notes so far. He gives in to the librarian's instance that everyone depart the haven of knowledge and piles up his borrowed books for re-shelving. Journal in hand he departs for the evening. Still, he feels as if he has at least made progress. While the journal's secrets still elude him, it does seem that there is something more there to find. He resolves to return the following evening, and the one after that and so on until he discovers what it is the journal hides, or until no further progress seems likely here.

And after that? Well, he knows people that might be able to help out, and worst case scenario he could more easily travel to more well equipped libraries than others in the domain. Thus, resolved, the Dr. heads into the night.
