    Things could be worse...

    Things could be better...

Lately Ion felt tugged in every direction. The more she tried to maintain that mortal side, the more she realized it was all a lie. She was not not human anymore, that was stolen away, but she was not entirely of the fae either. She did not know what she would become, but she had no choice but to continue pushing forward.

She had run countless miles through the streets of Sacramento, and still had countless more in her. Part of it was looking for threats to the Freehold, but the temper within the Levinquick had been provoked and stiffled frequently, and another part of her was looking for a fight. She slowed the pace down as she hit some heavier foot traffic, moving from her quick jog to a brisk walk. Taking the small respite to her advantage, she opened up her bottle of water and took a long sip.

Ion's eyes dart about as she looked for anything out of the ordinary...anything that could be a threat...anything that could lead to a fight...

Spartan was out for a jog of his own. He had left pipeworks and was heading back toward the Forge when he noticed the engergetic, blue haired, Levinquick. Spartan curved his run to make his way to catch up to her. Spartan said nothing, having his earbuds in his ears. He simply gave Ion a nod of hello and joined her on the run. He would leave the conversation starting to her, as her, even though he was joining her.

The Hoplite King had been meaning to speak to Ion, or at least keep company with her, so he could address her status as it stood. With the testing coming up, it would be good to know what she is capable of even more.

"Sup..." With a nod of her head she greeted the Summer Sovereign. She screwed back on the lid of her water bottle. Even at a brisk walk, her speed was readily apparent. All too often, she had to mentally focus on toning it down. With the Summer Sovereign joining her on her self imposed patrol, she began to jog once more to match his tempo and pace.

"How are things?" She dryly inquired. Elementals were not known for their social grace, and Ion was no exception, but she still tried to spark up a bit of conversation.

Spartan unplugged the earbud from his ear. "Ion," Spartan nods, "how are you?" Spartan asked as they continued moving along. "Things are well," Spartan states with his normal hard tact, "Just finished at Pipeworks and heading back home." Spartan continues his jog with Ion. "Rook and Anya were debating meeting me for the jog, but I did not see them."

"I am alright..." She held the water bottle in her hand and considered for a moment the merit of going out and buying a camel-back. Shaking the distraction away she glanced back to the Summer Sovereign. "I haven't seen them yet either..." The pace felt slow to Ion and it was easier for her to carry a conversation and maintain a steady breath.

"Did you down that threat alone?" Ion asks in regards to what he had said during the Summer meeting. She wondered what his little jaunt into the Hedge entailed, so she could match it.

"Will you jus' fug off!" the stinking hobo yelled at the flock of pesky pigeons that were eyeing up his half eaten burger, which he coveted in his scarred hands. It must have been old because small green bits were appearing on the bread roll but the Ogre didn't seem to flinch as he bit into it, chewing down the stale burger. The pigeons seemed to cock their beaks at him and regard him with some scrutiny from their beady eyes. With a huff and a puff, Smudge finally gave up and threw the burger at them.

    "Fine! 'Ave it, ya vultures!"

With guitar case over his shoulder, Smudge stood from the bench and wandered away from the squabbling birds, catching sight of the two Summers. Giving them a chin jut, the Ogre joined them. "Hey."

For Smudge, it was a glowing welcome.

"No not as of yet. The Trip is coming. I assume you will be joining us?" Spartan asked as he turned to look to the One-Eyed bastard. "Smudge." Spartan gave the Winter courtier a nod of his head.

Ion caught sight of the spectacle and instantly recognized Smudge from the soccer game they played a while back. Ion may have found the antics humorous or potentially disgusting, but her mind was firmly planted in the Hedge.

"I wouldn't miss it..." She tightened her grip upon the water bottle for a flicker of a moment, her words trailing out softer. "It is a much needed outlet..."...for my anger... Her eyes dart to Smudge as he joins there jog. Her thoughts shift away from tomorrow to rest firmly in the present.

"Smudge..." With a brisk nod of her head she continues. "How are the..." With a wave of her free hand below her lower torso, she tries to make him recall where the ball hit without putting words to it.

    "Me balls? Betta, thanks."

Smudge looked sidewards to the pair, wondering why they were running seeing as no-one was chasing them.

"Er, are yews both being followed or som'thin? Or is this one of those fuggin' fitness things?"

Smudge wasn't the only person enjoying the company you could find on the street - but, in the case of Molly, her company was of an entirely different nature. After all, a Fairest was nothing without an audience - and if that audience could give her enough food to pay for the rent of her meager apartment, so much the better, right? Laughing once and waving, the little lady continued to focus on her act, savoring the whoops of the crowd as she flipped onto her hands once more. A bead of sweat rolled down her forehead, and gave the crowd a brief wave and happy grin, listening to the chink of coins landing in the small bowler hat she'd picked up.

Perched precariously on one hand, she noticed a group turn the corner of a street. Other Lost. The realization made her waver once, her arm shaking slightly, but she recovered after a moment, giving the crowd an apologetic shrug as she turned herself right-side-up once more. "Sorry, folks, but oi've gotta get going." It took her a few moments to pack her green shoulder bag with her juggling pins and balloons, to tip the coins and bowler hat in, and quickly pop it over a shoulder. The crowd began to disperse, kids laughing, workers continuing their commute, and joggers running past. With a polite nod, the little lass joined them, giving them a brilliant smile in greeting. "'Ello, there!"

Ironic that her first appearance at the Freehold - an opportunity to meet her fellow Lost - also meant that she didn't have the faintest clue who they were, outside of costume. On the other hand, she reflected, they might not recognize her, either.
