Midnight had come and passed, as did many of the kine. The streets of downtown were relatively barren and desolate, and Ashley was a strange sight to behold walking the streets alone. The diminutive blond held no fear of the night, or what may lurk upon the street. She fiddled with her phone for a moment and then pressed it to her ear.

"I am ready to be picked up..." As Ashley spoke, she paused at the intersection and glanced to the signage labeling the crossed streets.

"Ya...uh huh..."

"I am at the corner of L and 8th..." Ashley nodded her head.

"Ok...I will be here..." She hit end-call on her phone and tucked it back into her pocket.

Ashley glanced around for a moment, and then moved over to lean up against the street signal pole. The air had a bit of a chill to it, but Ashley thought nothing of it as she glanced about.

Sacramento seemed like such a stark contrast to New York...a city that was true to never sleeping.

Still...there are ways to fix that...

Engineer this place a bit more to us...

More out of boredom, she thought over the logistics of a project of that scope as she waited for her ride. While it would be a long and arduous task, it was doable...especially for someone who had nothing but time on her hands.

Albert was meandering down the street, dressed in dark blue jeans and a t-shirt. He needed a break from the stress of following the markets in Asia. He was extraordinarily frustrated, a stock he had bought he was certain would perform turned out be a dud - it plummeted. I swear to God, someone's screwing with the futures. How the hell can they say justify such a forecast like that?!

Sawyer had his smart phone out as he walked. He was watching the rest of the Asian markets ping pong - red and green arrows flickering up and down. The more he stared at it the more it bothered him. Barely paying attention he was moving along down the sidewalk toward Ashley.

"Stupid piece of - !" Albert cut himself as he bumped into the side of a building, suddenly becoming cognizant of his surroundings. He noticed out of the corner of his eye an exceptionally attractive young lady...and just as quickly as he recognized her as Kindred. Not only was his night going poorly, he was now face to face with a much stronger predator.

His Beast cowered in fear. Why does this keep happening?! He reflexively sequestered his smart phone into his pocket and stepped behind a van. His left hand clenched and released fighting off the urge to run. No, she hasn't done anything. Not yet. Run like hell when you have to.

A few moments later, he stepped out from behind the van and calmly approached Ashley. "Hello there."

Ashley pushed off the light pole, resting her weight over her feet. Those diamond blue eyes cut through the lesser beast, as she reigned in the urge to dabble with the younger predators mind. Crossing her arms for a moment she tilts her head as a slender brow raises. Her arms uncross, hands falling back to her side as she address the fellow monster roaming the empty streets.

"Wonderful night...eh?" Her eyes scanned up and down Albert, scrutinizing the potential threat, but after a moment, she waived it all away. "I am Ashley Cohen."

"Certainly is a nice night indeed. Pleasure to meet you Ashley. I'm Albert Sawyer." He eyed her up and down, looking for any possible signs that she could indeed be a threat. Gorgeous blue eyes...and...other aspects... He re-focused his attention back to her face.

"So what brings you out here?"

"Business and pleasure..." Ashley leaned back against the pole and pulled her cell phone from her pocket to check the time. "Was just about ready to call it a night...have a ride coming soon enough..." She gave Albert a slight smirk.

Albert smiled at hearing her say the all too infamous phrase that described his hometown. "I needed an escape from work. Things were getting a bit hectic. So I opted for a walk." He looked at the barren night around them. "Would you happen to be in a hurry to get home?" he asked with what sounded to be genuine curiosity.

Ashley checked the time on her phone again and glanced back up. "Not in the least, though I would care for a bit privacy in our discourse..." She held up her phone after a moment. "I have a limo coming and can drop you off where ever..."

With a tilt of her head, she shifted subjects. "New to Sacramento?"

"I am new to Sacramento. I'm originally from Las Vegas. How about you?"

"Eastern seaboard...Mostly..." She checked the time on her phone once more knowing that it would not be long before her ride came for the two of them.

"Feels like I have only been in Sacramento for a second..."

"That reminds me of the casinos. Easy to lose track of time when you're in them," he says with a bit of nostalgia in his voice. "So how have you been getting along here?"
