A few feet away from the undead Doctor, rivulets of sea water found its way through the golden sand to her bare toes, cast forward from the larger waves further out to sea. The beach was not a place that the Haunt tended to visit. Though she would not have given herself the descriptor of "city girl" technically, having been born and raised in Chicago, and spending most of her Requiem flitting from city-to-city, she was one. With that in mind, she had never really spent very much time at the beach. At change of scenery was nice though, and even without a glorious sun in the sky, it was sort of relaxing.

Frankly, Josephine thought the moon, and it's shimmering pale reflection on the rippling water look quite a bit nicer than the cliche sunlit beach. But she may have been slightly biased, considering a pretty sun equated to imminent death to a Kindred.

Some distance away a couple of Kine were eating hot dogs, from a barbecue that had been set up in the parking lot, and the scent of cooking meat drifted toward her on the faint breeze. Owing to the slight lack of privacy, and a terribly pale person on a beach was always going to look weird, she allowed her skin a natural blush to bring life to her features.

In her hands, as she sat in comfort on the sand, the Haunt flicked through a book. It was not her usual heavy reading material: Books from the Lancea et Sanctum would never be brought out in public, and medical textbooks did not seem appropriate for an evening of relaxation. Instead Josephine had selected a lighter bit of reading material in the form of a lightweight mystery novel. As a nod to looking like a normal beach-goer, a pair of sandals sat in the sand next to her and a small towel hung half out of a cream canvas bag next to that. The Haunt certainly looked the part of the relaxed visitor to the beach, in a pair of denim cut-offs and pale blue lace camisole.

She did not tend to dress so casually very often, but going to the beach in anything particularly fancy struck her as slightly odd.

    Sidor Grigoriev

Sidor's patrols took him to many places in the city, but the beach was a rare route for him.

Mostly because the sand got everywhere and it was somewhat taxing to pick the grains out of his fedora afterwards.

Dead flesh might feel no irritation, but the hands of a man who was used to torturing those who had displeased him, or those he had served, were not particularly inclined towards laundry.

Even if he did use Tide.

The snarling of a Beast in the distance might have raised attention, but he recognised it easily, the flush of the other Haunt calling to him. He did not raise a hand in greeting as he walked across the shifting banks. She knew he was here, and that was rather enough. Besides, sudden movements exaggerated the stillness of his curse, and with mortals so close, he had no desire to draw attention.

Unlike the Doctor, he was not dressed casually, because he could not remove the hat, and anyone insane enough to wonder what Sidor Grigoriev looked like in a speedo was probably not sane enough to remember to wear trousers.

Once he had gotten close enough to the spot Josephine was occupying, he simply nodded to her.

    "Good evening, Doctor."

The Daeva had been frantically writing in her moleskine since the moon rose to take up the sun’s place. Velma had decided to do some soul searching and maybe write some songs if she happened to feel a good vibe.

As of right now all she had felt was the cold of the sea water, the grains of sand under her feet, the smell of the distant barbecue and her beast; her beast urging her to leave both kindred alone in their space and run back to her haven for safety.

Against supernatural advice she decided to stay, much to her detriment, as Velma noticed whose beast had stirred her own in such a way she felt like giving in to the red fear. It was no other than the fearsome bishop of the Lancea et Sanctum; the man with the stark features of an iceberg that Velma had seen in the previous mid night mass, and alongside him was another member of the holy covenant…

    Shit… and now I can’t run away!

It was a strange sort of bravery that made Velma approach the odd couple, that or the fact that she knew she been noticed and had no other option but to come close.

Holding her sandals in her right hand, the soft breeze touched her simple white summer dress with a graceful motion of a leaf blown by the wind. Her berry colored hair followed the white trail of moon kissed white linen. In the left hand she brought the opened moleskine and a red pencil.

Waiting to be noticed and for the beasts the settle down as much as possible she offered her polite non intruding greeting.

    “Good evening.”

Doctor Powell did not turn around as she felt the press of the familiar Beast, and her own monster inside responded with a less frantic attack than with someone she did not know at all. There had been a time when the beast of every Kindred in the city seemed to come at her with a force so overwhelming, she wanted nothing more than to flee and cower away, where she was alone and safe.

But not anymore. With time had come familiarity, and to a close few the snarling, animalistic creature inside her did not respond so violently.

Which was a relief, because running away in a panic would have seriously damaged her current sense of calm.

"Good evening," the Haunt responded in kind, and a small but warm smile touched her lips. "Looking for... a change... of scenery?" she questioned lightly, setting the tone with a simple question that would not break the bounderies of their current location.

But Josephine had barely finished speaking when the Beast stirred again, more strongly this time and with a distinct pleasure at posturing against a Kindred not entirely known to her. This time, the Haunt did turn around until she caught sight of Velma in the periphery of her cold blue eyes. She stilled the Beast with a firm exertion of her will, halting its rapid inclination to tear into the weaker Beast.

She softened the challenge with a restrained, but nonetheless welcoming, smile, and extended the same verbal greeting that she had to Sidor.

    "Good... evening."
