This is for adding a Search Category to the thread.
As Callum and Aïleen arrive at the museum they find themselves in the midst of the upper crust of the Sacramento Arts Community. The invitations that Callum presents to the doorman bear no scrutiny and they easily make there way into the party. Men in Suites and women in ballgowns mingle and move about looking at various art exibits. The target of the two kindred is not on open display.
Back in New York Callum had lived for this sort of thing. Of course he was dead now, or something. That particular idea was a hard one to grasp. In any case he really looked the part of a well-to-do rock star at a charity function, taking everything in his stride as he moved through the gathering in his very smooth Dolce & Gabbana suit with Aileen at his side.
Callum had started the evening with a nice snack to make sure he was on top form for the event. Afterwards he had spent the time to look immaculate before the limousine arrived to collect him, heading over to the pool location Aileen had told him she wanted to be collected from ( Bigpaw ). Thinking ahead Cal had also decided to take a slim wallet filled with hundred dollar notes, just in case he needed to bribe someone, along with his cheque book for the charity event.
Making their way through the exhibits Cal was ready with a friendly response to any questions from the other guests, shielding his more timid companion from having to be overly sociable. Finding a quiet corner he looked up at a curious painting. "So what do you think Aileen? They didn't leave it out for us, but I guess we weren't expecting that." He grinned as he looked around to make sure they weren't being overheard.

Even if she was not used to such social events, Aileen thankfully had a black dress that would fit in any occasion. She took care not to rumple it as she entered the limousine, and greeted Callum friendly. The shy Mekhet was rather nervous though, but she tried to reassure herself that it would be fine, people would overlook her just fine, she would be left to herself beside the Daeva who was a much more noticeable kindred. As she looked at Callum, she noticed he looked considerably more alive, and she took her cue after him, willing the Vitae in her body to irrigate her pale skin.

Upon entering the event, Aileen braced herself against what she feared might be an onslaught of Dream memories, but was pleasantly surprised to realize nothing of the like happened. She was crestfallen to find herself underdressed when compared to some of the ladies, but tried not to think too much over it. She was no more likely to get attention like that. She and Callum made their way in the crowd, but nothing related to their investigation was apparent, and they stopped in front of a painting depicting a woman crying over a dead man in his deathbed. What was curious though was that she seemed nearly happy. Or was it relieved ? Anyway, there was something eye-catching in her expression that the painter had successfully depicted.
She was trying to decipher the woman's expression when Callum talked about their current mission, and pointed out they had to take initiative. While she lacked experience in this, Aileen knew what she was capable of, and had mustered her resolve beforehand.
I think I'll go to the ladies's room. I feel very much like a wallflower, you know. Her tone of voice indicated that there was more to the words than a mere resentment. Much more. Once I've walked around a bit, I'll get back to you. How does it sound ? Meanwhile, you could inquire about the History department, or the Anthropology one, what do you think ? she was no expert on Bulgarian Skeletons, but she expected it would be one or the other of the departments that would have shipped them over the seas to Sacramento.
Callum smiled and nodded as he took a closer look at the painting. "Sure, sounds like a plan. Make yourself...comfortable. Oh, and let's set our phones on silent. If anything comes up we can let each other know quietly. I'll check every 5 minutes or so."
With Aileen heading off to take a quiet look around Callum made his way into the throng of guests. With smiles and handshakes he chatted away with the other guests and started to ask about the various exhibits, being sure to mention that he was finding himself more and more interested in History, Anthropology and Archaeology.

Once inside the ladies' rooms, Aileen pretended to check on her make-up until she was left alone in the place. The Mekhet then called on her natural affinity with Shadows to become like them, present yet unnoticed, quiet, free. She then walked out and carefully stuck to the wall, avoiding contact as much as possible, until she reached a door leading to the area forbidden to visitors. She waited for a moment where no one was in sight to try and slip inside stealthily.

Callum is able to overhear someone talking to the "Curator" of the museum. How fortuitous for the Daeva.
As for Aileen, she is have trouble getting out of the bathroom, as once she is obfuscated she cannot open the bathroom door without breaking the obfuscation.
