Impulse watches the man intently, his earlier attempt at peaceful negotiations ignored. Seeing the knife stops impulse from his usual 'act now, think later' way of doing things. Knowing that the piece he carried with him was not strictly legal, Impulse hesitated to go for the gun hidden in the back of his pants... he chose instead to keep the same distance from the retreating man and decided to attack only if hostile actions were taken.

Nantale could only barely see the van just beyond the sight of the man and his captive - but seeing it was enough. While she was in no way able to aid in a physical confrontation, she only hoped that she could prevent his escape.
Nantale quickly formed the imago of the spell in her mind - as a Disciple of time, her ability to Glimpse the Future came far more easily than a mere apprentice, and aside from the mana requirement, it was fairly simple to discern whether her gambit would be successful or not. She could feel in her mind the frustration of the vehicle working improperly, anticipate what moving parts to target for maximum effect - and she did.
Nantale covertly awakened the dormant spirit within the van, but rather than entreating it to follow its nature, her Awakened soul overwhelmed the nascent spirit and demanded that it pervert any attempts to activate drive the vehicle for a time.

Moving to a position a few feet behind the back-tracking assailant and leveling her pistol, Kim has clearly moved beyond friendly negotiations, as she orders, "Let her go. This is not going your way."

They flick to the pistol the Mystagogue pulls on the man.
Sigh.
Silently, subtly Ariadne pulls on the supernal then hurls it at the apparent kidnapper. Anger fueling the spell as she bends the Fallen World.

For a moment it looks like the Gangster can resist before his hands go lax and the knife he was holding slips from his hand and shatters on the ground.Anyone with Supernal Vision (Prime Sight) up can roll me an [Int+Occult+1]His grip on the girl goes limp and his eyes glaze over.
The girl slides out from his grasp and falls into Impulse, slightly sobbing and using his shirt as a place of refuge.

Kim sees that the situation is now much more under control, and immediately re-holsters her pistol, which she had not disengaged the safety on that night. She'd hoped there'd be no need, and now there clearly wasn't. The State Bar might frown upon a park shooting. I suppose I'll never know, now. It is safely, legally concealed once again, and she keeps her focus on the man as she looks at her comrades through the corner of her Dark Eyes, asking, "Did one of you do... something? Good job."
She keeps her distance from the girl, not wanting to become part of a human stampede to overload her clearly frightened mind any further.

Noctina looks at what happened to the man, she gives a quick look at Ariadne but otherwise says nothing.
"So what now?" Noctina asked wondering what should happen next, at least if they got away they might have found the base, although there is now someone to ask questions of.

Noctina catches a quick smile flash across Ariadne's face. The Epopt calms herself though and glances to see where that pistol went.
"Now we find out why this fellow was trying to take her." Ariadne says as she walks up to the man. Stopping a safe distance away Ariadne looks the man over, arms crossed. "Why did you try to kidnap her?" Behind the words she adds the impulse the tell the truth.
