Abs of Steel

The Forge was peaceful at this time of night, which was for the best. It would be impossible to run a fitness class in the middle of a mosh pit.

The cage was down, because the wire was useful for climbing, and a little light hand to hand would be useful for cardio. Mats were spread out on the poured concrete floor at one side, covering the area where in the middle of winter, Rook had arm wrestled Spartan and put his fist through the floor.

Rook finished carrying the stack of free weights across the floor and carefully stacked them up.

I can barely believe I'm doing this.

The Red Victor stood up, dusting his hands off absently. He was stripped to the waist, unlike him. Steel crenelations were set around his shoulders, solid and jutting out. Heavy rivets covered the steel, one particularly nasty one shaped like a Y incision down his ribs. The Metalflesh was actually looking forwards to it.

He wasn't sure if he was teaching material or not, but at least the exertion should be entertaining.

    If anyone showed, of course.

If not, he'd have a pleasant, solitary work out.

Tobias hesitated just outside the door. He knew he wasn't the strongest person, not by half, and for a brief moment he worried just how big of a fool of himself he was about to make. Still, he'd told Rook he would show, and he would stick to his word. With a deep breath, he pushed the door open and stepped inside, calling a smile to his face. When he spotted Rook, he gave a quick wave. "Hey Rook, am I early?"

Rook glanced up as at least one person arrived, and smiled slightly at the corner of his mouth. Well, at least now it was a one on one session.

"Not by much. Nice to see you, Tobias,"
Summer's Red Victor said pleasantly. He didn't offer to shake hands, but that was mostly because for Rook, shaking hands was an exercise fraught with the ever present risk of pulling off the other person's arm.

Better not to risk it unless it was absolutely necessary.

    "How's it going?"

The door clunked shut as Jezebel slid through, casting an eye around the room. Without the thrashing crowds and pounding music to act as distractions, she realised how barren and...industrial the Forge looked. Forcing down the vague, uncomfortable memories of the environment she spent her Durance in, the Blightbent picked up her bag and wandered over to join Rook and whoever the other Lost was.

"Hey. I saw the note you stuck up." Jezebel said, nodding to Rook. "You got a place where I can change? I don't fancy doing this in platform boots and a corset." She indicated the bag slung over her shoulder.

John wanders in, still wondering at the choice of time, and venue. He'd heard that the Forge was owned by Spartan, but he wasn't sure a metal club was the best place for a fitness class. And while the small hours of the morning were one of his favourite times, it was still a little odd to be working out then.

When he enters the room proper, some of his doubts about the venue vanish: there was plenty of floor space, and a good amount of equipment.

Maybe late-night work-outs - or sparring matches, given the cage - here are a regular thing for Summers.

Still didn't explain the time, but Rook was being pretty generous to do this, so the darkling was hardly about to start complaining.

Approaching the small gathering, he waves in greeting.

"Hey Rook, nice to see you again. You get much interest from the note?"

Turning to the others, he offers a multi-jointed hand as he introduces himself. "Don't think I've run across you guys yet - the name's John Lapsley."

Perry was all for a workout. Especially on days when he'd dared to gorge himself with a coffee and a doughnut.

His secretary had seen him do it, and so she had called his ass fat. This sent Perry into a shame spiral, which really was a 'thousand times fooled, shame on him' sort of thing. What he failed to realize was that, no matter how tight the attorney got his buns, they were never tight enough for his sassy secretary, because she knew it bugged him.

Regardless, here he appeared, wearing his black shorts and a blue t-shirt that read in a Varsity-style script, YALE LAW. Offering a wave, he said, ""Hey, everybody. Rook, thanks for offering this tonight. Never enough time to work out these days."

He offered each a smile. Jezebel's, however, was slightly smaller than the rest. Perhaps it was because they hadn't yet met. Or maybe there was something else.

Lou was energized and ready to go when he entered the forge - working out was part of his routine - partly because he was terrified of ever being the fat guy again, and partly because it was just something to do. He was also curious as to what sort of lesson Rook wood give, and wouldn't turn up learning from the Elemental - he kind of liked the guy.

He arrived wearing athletic shorts, a large t-shirt, and tennis-shoes.

"Perry, Jezebel, Rook... hello, " he said as he saw the lost that he recognized.

"And hello to you too, " he added, turning to Tobias and John. "I'm Lou."

The Iron Adjutant strolled into The Forge, in the self-assured manner of a person who knew that they were exactly where they were supposed to be. This place might have been the building that she worked in, but the amount of time she spent there, it was practically a second home. She sort of liked it though: it was nice to be needed.

She scanned the faces of those who were already there, acknowledging them with a quick and friendly, "hello."

To the Metalflesh, the Draconic winked in what might very well have been a playfully reassuring gesture. She was rather curious as to how Rook would fare with teaching.

"Hello Jezebel. There's changing facilities just through the door there," Rook said, gesturing towards the door on the upper mezzanine. While he finished giving directions, more and more Lost arrived. John he'd been expecting, since the little Darkling had pretty much given him the idea, if only by accident. The others were a pleasant surprise.

With a little luck, the class would go off well and they'd find it useful.

And then there was Anya, winking at him, and a little, private smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. It wasn't in his nature to be nervous, but if it had been, that would have blown it away. As it was, it just brought a softness to his expression that was very rarely present.

"And hello, John, Perry, Lou - nice to see you, glad you're interested,"
the Red Victor said warmly, his mantle crackling with white hot flares around him. "We'll get started in a few minutes. If anyone else needs to change, through that door."

Tonight is rather convenient for Ion. On most days she would pull a double and either find time to work out between or do it after. She comes out from the back, already dressed for tonight's workout. As she moves brisky over to the gathering, she uses a scrunchy to pull back her hair and keep it out of the way. She stops among the group and looks around at the others, giving a quick nod.

"Sup..." Ion had mostly been working out by running long distance lately, with just a tad bit of calisthenics. She was curious as to what kind of routine she was in for this evening...
