Today was a significant day for the Sacramento Freehold, for it was the day that the Court of Crimson would hold its yearly celebration of the Feast of Strength. It was the early afternoon, and the temperatures were nearing triple digits outside. While the scorching summer heat covered the streets of the city, the Four Seasons' staff prepared for the celebration that would ensue within the Freehold Commons.
The throne room was still decorated in the same manner as it had been when Spartan was crowned as the King of Wrath earlier that summer. It looked like a warrior's banquet hall, but for this occasion much of the room had been cleared out of its tables. Instead, much of the space within the Hollow had been set up to hold a variety of contests. On one side of the room, there were stacks of hay with targets painted on them, while on another there was a circle of about twelve feet in diameter painted on the ground. There was also a section that had sand on the ground, streching several feet long, and another corner had a stack of javelins and practice bows hanging from the wall.
While the Summer Olympics were officially over, the Lost of Sacramento had been invited to participate in the contests that were to be hosted by their very own Summer Court. Together they would celebrate the season of war and brotherhood, enjoying each other's company and coming together as a Freehold in defiance of their former masters.
As usual, an exquisite banquet was set up against one of the walls of the room, near which there were some tables and chairs for folks to enjoy the exotic cuisine of the Verdant Queen. Sam, the ensorcelled bartender, was behind the bar, wearing a Hawaiian shirt that made him look more like a cabana boy than an actual bartender. The rest of the Four Seasons' staff was already present, helping to set things up around the room.
However, Mrs. Rosemary was not in the room, which was to be expected. After all, it was likely that the Spring Ogress was still in her kitchen, fixing up a few more dishes to add to the impressive banquet that was already set up outside.
Duncan and Swilla were off having a friendly arm wrestling contest in one of the tables near the banquet, while Mr. Bates was greeting and ushering the guests to the throne room as usual.
Welcome to the Feast of Strength! As usual, please break off into separate threads when appropriate and label them with (Eternal Summer 2012) in the thread's title. This thread will close to new arrivals on August 28, 2012. Enjoy!
