L'aire wondered if part of the reason she was distorted at all was from eating the fruits. Would they truly be of help, or was there a catch 22 to them. And you took a bit anyway, you should know better.
Upon hearing how well this man was skilled, the Fairest looked to Cali. “Did Ralph tell you what the blanket is made from?” It may help to know what they may be up against. A hide that large may be some bad ju-ju.
Jezebel looked down at the small, round, depressingly solid fruit Degnar had passed to her.
He knows the mask doesn't come off, right? He's not stupid. It's got to be pretty obvious I can't eat solids.
"Yes. Eat. I would dearly love to be able to do so." She said, in a voice almost as dull and monotone as his. Jezebel gave the darkling a long look, trying to work out whether she was being made the butt of a particularly unpleasent joke or not. She very slowly unwound the straw from her mask and held it up next to the fruit to make her point, then curled it away again and slipped the fruit into a pocket. If nothing else, she could leech the glamour from it later.
Her mood having only soured further, Jezebel turned and walked off to stand near the exit of the cave, waiting for them to get going.

The Flowering ate the fruit, who really knew what it would do to him, and Degnar seemed okay enough with it. Might as well.
So she can’t see with the light, but holding it up like a beacon...that won’t exactly help either. He stepped as close to the toxic ogre as he could without feeling wilt-y before making a motion to the others. If it was possible to get out of the hedge an hour ago he would have suggested it.

Degnar blinked his black beady eyes at the Blightbent a couple of times, not saying a word. She seemed annoyed, but he didn't particularly care. He just gave her a shrug and stopped paying attention to her. It wasn't so much that he was insensitive, but he knew very well that every single Lost in that cave had probably experienced something awful back in Arcadia. Sure, she had a mask permanently strapped to her face...so what? That didn't give her the right to be a bitch. Otherwise, all Lost would constantly be in pissy moods, losing their tempers with each other.
Like most Summer folks. Ha, she's such a Summer...even if she doesn't know it yet.
The Archer stepped outside the cave, waiting for the whole group to join him outside so they could be on their way. Who knows how long they had been in the Hedge already? And if there was one thing he knew, it was that the longer one stayed in the Hedge and off a path, the harder it became to find a way out.

The intrepid group venture into the darkness of the Thorns and find an unconscious and bleeding Ralph caught in a snare. After releasing him, they navigate their way out of the Hedge and back to the mundane world where they make sure both mortals get proper medical treatment. On the way, they might also give Cali some good advice about moving on after such a traumatic experience.
Sorry for the necessity of wrapping up this story.
