"The classroom of life has no end for academic minds," he says proverbially, extending his finger from his latte cup in a cryptic gesture. "Law and Order then, eh? A keystone in the structure of society, would you say?" As he poses the question, Toren's eyes are drawn away to the form of Aenigma and Mr. Tamwood. He had wondered where his Cabalmate had been lately. Probably head over there in a bit once he had finished speaking with these gentlemen...

Kite walked into the Written in Water as he had regularly done for the past 6 months. Over time, Kite had turned into a virtual regular of the café and bookstore, and could often be seen at one of the tables, sipping his coffee while reading his paper. Today was no different, and Kite walked up to the Barista and ordered his drink with a demeanor indicative of routine practice. With his latté in one hand, his cane in the other, and his paper wrapped under his arm – practiced 100 times over – Kite found his usual table, set everything down in its place, and started to read his paper while sipping his coffee.

Gallows had seen some of the signs for the Meet and Greet around the city, but honestly did not need them. He had come to learn in the past couple of months that mages tended to gather at this bookstore even without any organization. He still had no 'regular' to order at the cafe, but only because he was interested in sampling the different varieties of drinks that California had to offer. This time, he got himself an apple cider. It was very warm weather for it, but he liked cider a lot. Besides, the air conditioning should be cool enough to make up for it...he hoped.

It didn't look like there were many people around the store--that meant either he was among the first to arrive, or others had already moved to the private rooms in the back. Fortunately, Gallows spotted Kite sitting by himself at one of the tables.

"Kite!" he said with a grin as he walked over. "I come here to meet new people. How is it that I keep running into you instead?" He laughed. "How are things?"

Kite chuckled in response. “What can I say? I like their coffee.” Kite’s smiles slowly faded, replaced with a look of determination and resolve, as he seemed to refocus to his current task. “The truth is,” he said to his friend, “I’m hoping that I will be able to catch some of the Consilium officers and Order leaders when they aren’t busy.” His voice was serious, and he looked straight ahead, wistful, as if reliving a bad memory. “I can’t let what happened at that Thyrsus meeting stand unchallenged, Gallows. There is simply too much at stake…”
