Crusaders on Patrol

A short bus ride later and Skaald, Sin, and Jesse were standing near the J Street bridge, on the edge of the river that marked the physical border between the Forsaken and the Pure. Jesse shoved her hands in her pockets to keep from fidgeting as she walked towards the bridge. She didn't like striding towards her enemy without her weapon of choice at hand, but she wasn't defenseless, and she didn't want to draw attention to this side of the river. Bullets would mean Cops, and while she was fine with the Pure getting that kind of attention, it would be bad for the pack. She swept a glance at the wolves at her sides.

"So, we're comin' up on the edge of our turf," Jesse explained, looking back to the river. "We cross that bridge and we hit no-man's-land. Complete with barbed-wire and whatever else you can think up. Or might as well be. But anyways, I figure we should hit up all the bridges, since they mark the best way for those Pure-ifying assholes to cross. That will take a few hours in itself, and anythin' beyond that and we'd have to sweep our south end. I'm assuming we won't get much trouble from there, though. Mind you, that might also just be a good way to get stabbed in the back. What do you manly men say? Technically, I have lead on this one, but I like opinions."

Sin took a deep breath as they stepped off the bus, taking in his surroundings. He turned in a slow circle as Jesse spoke, surveying the area and looking for anything out of the ordinary. When she finished, he looked back at her and nodded. "Starting with the bridges is probably a good idea, but it's also the obvious one," he said. "We should also look for any other spots where someone can cross, especially places a man wouldn't fit, but something smaller might. We can't forget they're just as adaptable as we are." Shapeshifting opened up a whole new world of possibilities when it came to sneaking around, and getting into places where you're least expected. He'd even known a few Uratha who could change into other animals, opening up the possibilities even more. "Best to keep an open mind, right?"

Skaald listens and nods before adding his thoughts. "Patrolling that boarder makes sense, as does checking the bridges." He grins at Sin's suggestion. "Also, anywhere they could just swim across should be checked out. You know the area best, of course, so lead and we'll follow."

"The river stays pretty much the same width for the length of the border, but I suppose there's a few islands and such more to the east. Let's just start with the bridge. We'll all check that out together and then fan out along the river, maybe about 200 yards in either direction, and see if anythings amiss. Then do the same with the next bridge over and go from there, yeah?" she dictated, the question in her voice more a token than anything else. She nodded to her comrades and then proceeded to the bridge.

The water rushes beneath the bridge below them, a soft and subtle sound that somehow cuts through the light traffic going back and forth.

Sin and Jesse remember, as they talk about the Bridges, that not all of them are within the Crusader's territory. To start attacking, or even investigating them would also be to make attacks against the Shadow Seekers and the pack that is occasionally known as the Sworn.

Sin and Skaald move to the bridge, scouting it out. There don't seem to be any signs of foot traffic here. If the Pure have used it, they used it without leaving marks.

Jesse, scanning the bridge, notices an odd clenched fist stencilled on one of the bricks. How strange. Other than that though, the place looks utterly undisturbed.

Jesse waited by the brick, racking her brain to see if she recognized the mark somehow, waiting until Skaald and Sin finished their sweep and headed back over.

"Hey, check this out. Do either of you recognize this thing, or know anything about it? It could always just be one of the strange marks of the city, but I kinda doubt it. Must have some sort of meaning. Oh, and either of you have paper and pencil, for some reason?"
