Jennifer was at heart an academic. She had died one and would forever look like a college sophomore; even ninety years after her death. Her sole profession found her sitting in her kitchen in the haven she shared with Ricardo; a stack of encyclopedias, thesaurus and a book on the most common fears on the table. One of her most important goals was to become more useful to the Family and she was considering the counsel that Priscus Grigoriev had given her.

Implication and inferring was just as terrifying as the actual fearsome countenance that she could already put forth. What would scare people? How could she tailor it for every situation? Already she was considering how the Fear had helped the Kindred of Sacramento; how it diffused situations that could escalate when the need was not present. How could herself mastering the Fear help the domain, she wondered. Where could she be of most use?

It seemed obvious that she could attempt to become more emotionally astute; able to assist in diffusing Kine interest and interference in Kindred affairs. She hoped that she could assist the Reeve and his deputies, even more so than her simple deputies. The priscus may have mastered the Fear; but even he could not be in two places at once. So Jennifer posed situations to herself; imagining a suitable response through careful word choice and inferred threat...and applicable use of the Fear.
