Bigpaw Jag
The occult store on J Street almost resembles an antique store on the outside. The display windows are full of merchandise, most of which looks to be a random hodgepodge of items. There are books, crystals, candles, and a cast iron cauldron in one window, and the other window has more candles and a few athames. There is a welcome mat sitting outside with pagan symbols decorating the edge. A sign over the door says "Ancient Ways".

Striding in confidently, the tall mystagogue looked around as any customer in a store for the first time. Spotting a counter, he announced his entrance by a booming "Hello", and then circled between the shelves slowly, as if unsure of what he was looking for. Sometimes picking an item, sometimes leaning forward to look more closely at the paraphernalia, he made his way toward the book part of the store, and started sifting through them, hoping his Sight would help him in the matter.

Aenigma walks in a moment or two after Miach, not making such a ruckus for his own entrance. In a way, the Warlock prefers to remain unnoticed until he finds the need to do otherwise. He doesn't bother with looking at the other items in the store, heading directly for the bookshelves.
Hopefully there will be something of interest here.
He begins looking through the books on the shelves, keeping an eye out for anything that may ping his Mage Sight or just seem slightly out of the ordinary.

The people in the shop give Miach a few curious looks, but don't really say anything. Some glance at Aenigma, but otherwise ignore him. The shop is full of shelves that are bursting with a variety of strange objects. Most of the objects seem completely mundane.
The bookshelves are near the back, and the shelves are stacked with hundreds of books, many that look old and rather used. A few look brand new.

Noticing the large amount of books, Aenigma decides to start looking through them since it could take them a while to get through all those statcks. Most of it appears to be mundane books on a variety of esoteric topics, probably based on the speculations of people who really don't know much truth about the occult. Regardless, it is worth a shot to look through the stacks of books, just in case what they are looking for is hidden somewhere in these bookshelves.
Let's see what we have here...

Trying to keep his mind open to anything that might seem out of place, Miach didn't search through the books one by one. Nothing to do with any sort of blind luck overconfidence syndrom.
Aenigma doesn't see the titles they came in looking for, but both mages do notice a section of books on the bottom shelf sticking out far more than they should.

Puzzled by the section of books at the bottom of a shelf, Miach crouched to get a better look at it. He took some books, and gave them a cursory check, to see what their content might be about. He didn't forget his crime novel either, and looked at the wall behind too, in case it might be moving. And if nothing else seemed clued him in about the weirdness, the Acanthus will look at their arrangement, looking for a meaning not in their content, but in their layout.

Not having found what he is looking for, Aenigma sets down the last book he had been inspecting back in its rightful place. The lack of results doesn't bother him though, for he knows that there are still two other shops that they need to check out. As he turns to tell Miach they should get going, he notices the strange arrangement of books and that the Acanthus is already looking through them.
Hmmm, I wonder if those may have anything of interest?
Not wanting to appear too obvious about what they are doing, the Warlock decides to let Miach look through those books and then relay any information that may be of interest. He also realizes that he needs to talk to the other Mystagogue about setting up a telepathic connection between them, which would make communicating with each other much more subtle and effective under these circumstances.
While the books themselves are uninteresting volumes over dream reading and tarot cards, Miach does find two books hidden behind the first row, shoved up against the wall and covered in dust.
