Tobias nodded towards Degnar. "I see them." He paused, considering his options. "I might be able to buy us some time," he said, looking out at the mist-covered river. "But unless you want singing, someone else should probably talk to them."
He gave a half-smile and looked at the group. "Volunteers?"

"Well now... " the fox moves over the ground, with purpose, but not intense purpose. He lets others move forward, but he does go to cut them off, waving them over with a jolly, full bodied.
"Good morning my friends!"

Hanna smiles. People. That she could handle. She looks to the chocolate and cinnamon Dominyk, and gives him a playful wink, "So... shall we see who the fairest of them all?"
With that, she makes her way on over to the hikers behind the foxman, a little extra sway in her steps for good measure. Once she got into a decent range, she called out, "Hello? Hi. I'm sorry folks,but this section of the park has been deemed off limits for the time being. There's a local wildlife study being conducted and we just can't have anyone interrupting. We must ask that you stick to the approved paths."

The couple, a man and a woman dressed in matching outdoor apparel including khaki cargo shorts, polo shirts, fanny packs, and hiking boots, pause their decent at the approach of the group of Lost. The woman smiles at the greeting and raises a hand. "Good morning to you!" she replies to Reynard.
At Hanna's words she furrows her brows. "I'm sorry, we didn't know," she reaches up and brushes a stray strand of hair out of her face. "Wildlife study?" she glances at the man.
He scowls as well, running a hand through his darker brown, short hair. "Don't believe that. They're need us gone so they can look into the cryptid stuff. Typical government cover-up." he glances at Hanna, raising an eyebrow at her clothing. "Trying and failing to dress as civies as well, typical." The man practically scoffs the last word.
"Oh, be nice." the woman scolds him. She turns back to Hanna, a tightness around her blue eyes betraying her otherwise friendly expression. "Is he right? Are you government cryptozoology specialists?"

The Quebecois man laughs lightly, pulling off his fedora and running a hand through his hair he looks the man who spoke in the eye. He shifts the bag and then nods to the man.
"I commend you on your skepticism." He says. "But some points before you assume. "
"Do I sound American? Or look like I work in a place that would need me to wear black?" He laughs deeply and winks at the woman. Mean while he is thinking fast. "No indeed we are just, how do you say it, Ecologist? Yes?" The fox man plopped the hat back on his head then with a smile waves his hand towards the area they were heading. " You see the rare spotted Dormis Ructatrix is said to stop here. If that is indeed true we would need to designate this area as a protected preserve and help to fund restoration programs an the like. " The Fox smiles broadly. "People have been seeing groups of their tracks around here, and there might even be a nest of the critters in there. We need time to study and see if its true."

The man's brow furrows for a moment. "I...I suppose you're right. Dormis ructatrix - I don't think I've heard of that one before."
The woman looks excited, "Is that some sort of mythical creature? We're ecologists ourselves, sort of. I took a class on cryptids before I had to drop out of school, and Rick here has hard evidence of all sorts of animals that people don't believe actually exist. He was one of the few people who had seen the giant squid before the scientists finally acknowledged it was real! If there is anything we can do to help, we'd love to!"

Degnar watches as the dragon and the fox charge forward to deal with the unwanted guests. He turns back towards the mist, studying it a little closer. "The rest of us should try keeping a low profile for now," he says to those who stayed back. Once he finishes saying those words, the Darkling takes a couple of steps back, letting the mist and shadows of twilight congeal around him as he invokes upon his Contract with Smoke.
All sources of light around seem to avoid him, and the Tunnelgrub takes advantage of this and the mist to do what he does best; hide. He remains still, but vigilant of his surroundings.
Better to be a passive observant for now. If the situation were to call for a confrontation, its better to take them by surprise...

Tobias looked at the place where Degnar was a few moments before. He looked over at the group approaching the hikers. Well, I guess he's right then.
He took a deep breath, whispering to the wind. He backed up against a tree, letting the mist and branches conceal him from sight.

Dominyk took a moment to look around him, with the light challenge that the Draconic had left hanging in the air and at the emptiness of the two he was standing near. He looked over at Aldamoth ( Cameron ), “So maybe they need a little help?” he asked as he placed the yo-yo into his bag and pulling out the notebook and a pen. “I’ll see what I can do.”
He breathed in the slightly chilled mist. “Ma’am...” He walked up to the small group, the notebook tucked under an arm and the pen held lightly in one hand. “Ma’am, they need you again.”

Aldamoth nodded at Dominyk, attempting to conceal the smile on his face. There was little that the Darkling could do to assist, so he remained on standby as the Fairest moved towards his fellows.
Lacking the ability to properly mask his presence, Aldamoth simply readied himself for hostility, his hand hovering over his sabre. The innate coordination that his comrades were showing was gratifying, and he felt slightly more at ease regarding this excursion. He had little doubt that his own talents would be required before long. I just hope I'm ready.
