Within any given city there are about 10,000 wild, feral dogs running loose in the streets. They are solitary creatures for the most part they are far removed from their wolf ancestors and they do not have the pack cohesion that their wilder cousins use to survive. Most are harmless and timid, some are mild but wary, a few however are some of the most vicious, bloodthirsty creatures you will ever see. Because, of the ancient association with them they do not fear humans they will chase anything they perceive as food and they will kill anything they can catch. Regardless of their temperament it is actually best for the dog if they are put down as son as possible, and tonight they are being hunted by a larger predator.
Ivan moves silently through the streets and back alleys of the city, it has been a month since his Embrace. He has acclimated to his new existence surprisingly well. He has been honing his hunting skills since he arrived in this city. He began with the rats down in the sewers acquiring the taste for blood which took only a few nights. He found shelter in the sewers as well as other underground compartments which hadn't seen a living being in over a hundred years. He felt the need to keep moving and not stick to any single place for too long.
Ivan discovered that rats while ok for keeping himself from starving weren't exactly filling. So he began to track bigger game and left many dead cats and opossums in the sewers. Tonight he was looking for dogs, stray dogs to be exact, pets that would not be missed or mourned over. He had discovered with his exploration of the city that dogs seemed to roam the city streets in throngs even though most stayed clear of each other. Ivan of coursed hunted bigger dogs from German Shepard up to mastiff. He either got lucky or he didn't eat that night, he got better as he practiced.
Tonight he was not hunting just for sustenance, he was hunting because he was going to make his appearance to the local vampire grand poo-bah and he didn't want to arrive hungry. So he hunted and he seemed to have more success than failure.
He took two great danes, three labs, and four boxers but one got away when it ran into traffic and was run over.
