Thyrsus Meeting at the Nature Preserve

Kite twitches a moment, and then turns over on one side. The movement causes Kite’s less-than-lissom form to roll over on top of his half-filled coffee cup, which promptly crumbles in response. With a sharp yelp, the overtired Kite suddenly leaps to attention.

“Gaahhhhh!” Kite screams suddenly, first (oddly) in fear, before he finally winces in pain. “My coffee!!!” he yells, looking at his brown-stained shirt and jeans, patting them down in a panic. As the burning sensation began to subside, he started to look for the one culpable to objurgate.

Kite turned towards Alfar in a newly tenebrous mood. “My. Coffee!...” he glowered darkly at the offending mage.

Exerting seemingly superhuman will, Kite took a moment to recompose his sour expression. “Well," he deprecated to Alfar darkly, "I’m glad to see that you are keeping yourself entertained.”

I think I can claim five words of the challenge!

    To Alfar:

Triquetra glowers a bit when she notices that Kite had fallen asleep, Libertines. And two fingers quickly rise to her mouth in what almost anyone would be able to recognize as the preparation for a loud, piercing whistle. It was a trick she'd picked up back home in Montana. She stops, tough, as she notes Alfar start moving; amusement replacing the annoyance in her gaze. And then she quite happily watches Kite get his wake up call, and the brief bit of chaos that follows.

She doesn't say anything immediately afterwards...but she doesn't really put much effort into hiding her amused giggle either.

Alfar watches Kite with an amused look. His reaction is just priceless, but when he spills coffee all over himself Alfar's expression turns a little sour.

"Yes, that was quite entertaining, thank you. I'll pay for the dry-cleaning, if you don't object. And for a new cup of coffee."

With a kind smile he adds:

"But I was actually hoping to make a point. I don't know your circumstances, but you should really get some sleep, as you never know what is watching you and simply waiting to bite your sleeping ass."

And you're s Shaman, not a Moros, for Spirits' sake. You are supposed to be healthy, even if you're a Libertine.

This part, however, he keeps to himself. By amusing himself he hoped to teach the guy something, not make an enemy.

Animus smiles amusedly at the other Thyrsoi's antics. He keeps to himself thoughts of what might have happened had Kite nodded off like that in real wilderness.

A sidelong glance toward Triquetra. "Wasn't there another piece of business we needed to discuss?"

"Yes, I should appoint a Provost. You know, in case anything needs to be handled while I'm out doing super-secret Guardian stuff." She reclaims her seat on Animus's lap, leaning back into him as she carefully watches the other three Thyrsoi. She was already pretty sure which one of them she wanted to appoint as Provost, of course. But she wanted to see their reactions first, and whether any of them would actually make a push for the appointment.

Idun snorts at the antics between Kite and Alfar with a fond smile. Then frowns at the mention of needing a Provost and then rubs her neck before stretching a bit. She finds a sport upon the ground to sit down and moves her pack about so she can get to her water. "Well, good luck to who ever you pick." She simply states as she caps the bottle, not particularly caring who is picked as long as they do their job.

She then moves her pack behind her back and uses it as a back rest, waiting to see which of the two boys will be named with a bemused smile.

Alfar smiles at Triquetra's need to pick a Provost. As Idun quickly removes herself from the equation, he frowns a little, understanding that if he's not chosen he'll be inferior to Kite who is in his opinion not quite fit for the job. The man definitely means well, but has problems with focus and keeping himself in shape.

"Well, it's obviously your choice, but I volunteer. I'm a Disciple of Life, Apprentice of Spirit and Initiate of Prime and I primarily specialise in fighting and healing. I'm also told that my connection to the Supernal is quite strong for someone as new as me, but I can't verify that." - taking a more relaxed posture he adds. - "I also work as a doctor and try to be helpful when I can. However, if you are looking for someone to subtly scheme Consilium's edicts into place, then I'm definitely not the right man for the job."

Then Alfar looks at Kite waiting for his opinion on serving as the Councillor's instrument.

With Alfar’s statement, Kite’s ominous glare towards him suddenly transforms into one of… it is difficult to read. He certainly looks startled though, and maybe a bit concerned. His brow creases in thought for a moment, and he spends a couple seconds thinking quietly before he finally decides to speak.

“I hate to say this. I’m nearly as new as everyone else here, and I… certainly have my flaws.” he starts reluctantly. “Alfar, you have just arrived in the city. We don’t know a single thing about you. While all of us are relatively new, you are a completely blank slate. Until we learn a bit more about your style and personality, it is – at least in my opinion – premature to ask for a position of authority.”

Kite turns to Idun sympathetically. “I know you did not nominate yourself, but you have no idea how much I want to endorse you for this position – a big part of me wants to ask you to reconsider.” he says firmly. “However,” Kite continues with a reluctant look, “from what I have heard, I guess, at the most recent Consilium…” Kite’s voice trails off, indicating his meaning.

Finally, very reluctantly, Kite turns to Triquetra. “I wish to nominate myself for the position of Thyrsus Provost. I am qualified, and will handle the responsibilities of the position both competently and judiciously.”

At first, Alfar is somewhat startled by Kite's wish to become a Provost. Not that Kite's suspicions are not justified, but he thought the man would never volunteer himself for the job. Still, Alfar quickly recomposes himself and answers with a smile:

"Well, you've seen me at work and there are ways to contact my former superiors either for a recommendation or discussion."

    Looking at Triquetra he says:

"Like I said, it's your decision. I must say, even though Kite is quite capable, I still think I'm a better fit, but, thankfully, my thoughts are not what is important here." - with these words he relaxes and waits for Triquetra's answer.

Kite is good at what he does, but he is not a good example of a Shaman. And it's clear that he doesn't want the job, he's just afraid that I'm a Seer in disguise or something.

Technically, 'Beginning the Hunt' does not happen until the day it closes. It is sticky threads that happen the day the thread starts. Thus, Alfar and Kite don't know each other from 'Beginning the Hunt' yet.
