Acanthus Councilor Election

Jack enters the bookstore dressed in his casual clothes. Looks like the owners wanted to actually succeed as a business... the Curator notes, looking about at the slightly larger non-Awake clientele roaming by the computers, cafe, and the lower level bookshelves. The stairs leading up are blocked off by a chain link with a sign attached in the middle saying "Book club in session".

Jack waves to the patrons before stepping over the blockade, making his way upstairs to prepare the meeting. He concentrates for a second, forming an image of a barrier of air blocking all sound from leaving the area around the table. He feels the spell take hold, smirks slightly, then sits down and reads a book on the table while waiting for the other Enchanters to arrive, keeping an eye on the door to nod them up.

Miach had never been much of a social man. A ladies' one, yes. A pal's one, yes. A party's one, yes. A political one, no. But he guessed from the Consilium that it wouldn't hurt him to show up once every so often, if only to remind others they could rely on his mundane skills.

When he heard of this Acanthus Concilour election, he wondered what he would do there. He knew Toby and Jack, for sure. He could at least suppor whatever plans they might have, and that would be it, in his opinion. Unsure of his options, he walked into WiW, careless and carefree. Striding up the stairs, he reached Jack.

Toby enters WiW, looking forward to getting to know more of the Acanthus, but not looking forward to any politics. But, she knew she should show up, and attempt to offer any thoughts on the matter. She is dressed down, in jeans, a white tank top and her leather jacket.

She makes her way upstairs, seeing Miach she smiles, "Hi Miach." she looks to Jack, "Evening, Curator, I'm Toby." her smile remains friendly as she gives a quick nod of her head.

West drifted into the store, eyes skimming over the books with disinterest. Although he wasn't against reading a book every now and then, he'd had enough of bookstores to last a while. A cheap beige trench covered his cheap beige suit, his only concession to the weather, and the overall effect was a rumpled mess from the humidity.

He made his way up to the meeting, glancing at those already present while raising a hand in a silent greeting.

Damn. She's even better looking up close. Kai would flip.

Miach smiled broadly as Toby entered, and greeted her gladly. He was in known company, at least. That was when another man showed up, who wouldn't have looked like much if there hadn't been a Consilium before.

The Magister... leader of the Adamantine Arrow. And he stepped down from Sentinel, so he must have something else in mind... and he's Acanthus too ?

The doctor didn't quite know how to react, and decided to err on the side of caution. He returned the silent gesture, and looked deeply in his mug of sweet cappuccino.

Rellim was finishing a load of laundry at a local laundry mat when he realized that there was an Acanthus meeting today at the Written in Water, so he hurried back to his place, took a quick shower, and threw on the same clothes he wore to the Consilium meeting now that they were just washed. Before he left, Rellim decided to cast Temporal Eddies while chanting in Atlantean instead of his usual Sybil's Sight. The main reason was to have the accurate knowledge of time that the spell afforded him so he knew if he was running late or not.

Rellim decided not to bother with any other spells since they would not have been allowed anyway inside WiW. When he finally got there, a man inside of a room just past a blockade that read "Book Club in session" nodded to him and Rellim took that as the signal to come back. Through his sight, he could tell that there was a spell put up at the entrance of the door and he just figured that this was some sort of ward. He also noticed that of the three people who had arrived before him, only one had any spells in their patterns. It wasn't until Rellim walked past the door way (and thus the spell) that he could hear a conversation going on and that made him realize that the ward must only affect sound.

Of the three people there he recognized all of them from the Consilium meeting, but he didn't know any of them with the exception of West, who had only just recently stepped down from the position of Sentinel, and that was all he knew of the man.

Rellim gave a general greeting to everyone as he took a seat.

Toby smiles and offers a friendly wave to West, she remembered him from Consilium, and wondered if this meeting would be as interesting. It was looking like a small meeting, when another guy came in, she smiled at him as well, and watched him sit. She moves over to where Miach was, and wonders how many Acanthus there were here.

West felt like they were all playing chicken. Who would blink first? Who would speak, and show enough intiative that everyone else could leave that one holding the hot potato?

"So, does anyone want to be Councilor? I've got a new Apprentice, so I'm out," West recused himself with all the grace of a three legged cat trying to bury it's droppings.

Rellim speaks up next "Wait a second. Shouldn't we at least wait until more show up. I had thought that Technique was the Acanthus Councilor. What happened? Did he step down or something?"

Miach had never been part of much Awakened social life while Menwel had been alive, so he was in murky waters to say the least. Even counting the latest newcomer, a man who didn't even introduce himself, there was so few of them present that he could hardly avoid speaking, though. He nodded to Toby amicably, and stood.

I know not how it is usually done, but if there's someone already holding the title, we could wait till he's here, no ? Beside, I'm a doctor, and I do no politics. Count me out too, for that matter.

He finished with a shrug, clearly dismissing his abilities and will to hold a title.
