12th annual YMCA Winter Gala

Even though coming out to an event like this was not only unusual, but actually less than desirable for members of the Silent Arrow, the Queen of Sorrow felt the need to make an appearance. Perhaps it was only to keep an eye on her freeholders to make sure they didn't cross any lines, or maybe she just wanted to show some support for her subjects. Regardless of the reason, Katrin Byeli showed up to the Four Seasons hotel that evening, accompanied by the ever so loyal Harvey.

The pair walks into the main room; the Winter Queen as beautiful as always, turning heads with each step she takes. She is dressed for the occasion, wearing a lovely black flapper dress. Harvey is in costume as well, even though his garments are not too different from what he normally wears.

After Katrin makes her donation, the pair heads to one of the Blackjack tables. The Sun Banisher stands next to his Queen, doing a subtle scan of the room to make sure that nothing weird is going on. The Queen shoots a quick glance at the group of gathered Changelings, offering them a brief smile before she turns her attention to the cards being laid out in front of her.

"Why, thank you," Terri beamed, bowing her head slightly, "Its just something I had in my store. Actually, you should pop by, I've got a sale on at the moment. Its closing down, you see. Christmas wasn't the best for business this year."

Any perceptive individuals would notice the dip in her tail as she passed on the news. When Katrin and Harvey entered, it perked back up again as she gave the ruling Monarch a gracious smile. The last person she wanted to witness her sadness was the Queen of Sorrow.

Clare hadn't exactly planned on going to the gala, except for the odd chance she had in a thrift store while looking for some more jeans. She had stumble on a great dress that had switched things around for her completely. The Price, by some miracle of moment of idiocy by an employee was only $15 and...

Well, Clare had never gone to a fancy party before. So she had bought the dress, and found herself giving the Doorman the password... and like that she was inside and looking around. She drifted around, half- listening to various conversations, before finding herself standing not far from The Piano and it's player.

It was Rook, if she recalled correctly. Spartan had pointed him out last time she was in the Four Seasons.

Clare steps forward at the invitation and smiles widely. "Hello, you're Rook, right? Spartan pointed you out as someone I should talk to. I'm Clare Green."

Rook's mirrored sunglasses turned slightly towards Clare, and he nodded to her, an obvious invitation to come over. He could play and talk at the same time, if he felt like it. And he could feel her connection to Summer, which meant that he was open to her. He'd seen her talking to Spartan at the Coronation. It was the Constable's job to always have his hidden eyes on the King.

As he waited for her to accept his invitation or not, his fingers danced across the keys, picking out a light, improv Jazz tune to fill the time between now and his next planned piece. The seige weapon might not have understood music, but Rook had fought for so long to be so much more than that, that he could play.
