Seeing the Beast go into an even deeper state of panic made the Fairest feel a little sorry for the guy, but only a little. You can't be seen as soft in a place even worse than the Mos Eisley cantina. She moves next to the Elemental and Wizened and places a hand on the Doctor to stop their movement forward.
"We can come back without him," the Fairest says quietly. "Let's not be foolish."

Jack pauses at Xerxia's touch and listens to what the Summer Courtier has to say. Noting Otto's behavior, he shakes his head slowly before answering her.
"He seems better now that he's away from the water. I'd like to give him some time before we make him confront his fears again."
Jack looks around at the nearby stalls, examining their wares. He pays particular attention to any merchants that look like they might sell... y'know, people.
"Tell you what, I'll stay here and keep an eye on him while you three have a look around. We'll all meet at the entrance if we get separated somehow. We all came in together, so we all leave together. Okay?"

Stripes nods at Dr. Jack's suggestion before turning to Rook and Xerxia.
"Where we start?" He asks, trying to stay short and to the point like he planned.
Still shaken, the swimmer skin steps away from the wizened soldier and runs a paw through his hair. The terror of the river and the fish fades as older memories surfaced in his living nightmare. Otto looks around for stalls that sell captives, specifically stalls that sell women. "In 44 some of us sold sell Japs to the Moari. Officers could fetch a squad a couple of crates of fresh fruit, some coconut hooch and women for a few hours." The Beast giggles, grinning a little weird. "Course the Moari wanted payback for all the rapes and torched villages, not slaves. You ever seen a Moari man-trap Jack?"

Jack raises an eyebrow at his fellow courtier when the beast finally starts speaking... well, at least not complete nonsense.
"No. I never have, Otto. Have you ever slit a man's throat, then stitched it back together after you watched him bleed to death? No? Then maybe you should shut the fuck up and focus on what's happening right here and now, soldier. Stop making yourself sound like one of them. Speak plainly.
The stress of being in the Hedge is evidently starting to get to the good doctor.

Xerxia looks at the otter again, then back at the doctor, and finally shrugs and lets go of Jack's shoulder.
"We just have to be very observant. Even in the Hedge, it's possible they won't be overtly giving away people, so we need to look for clues that lead us to such a shop..." the Fairest tells Stripes, looking about for such clues, listening to conversations for odd turns of phrase, smelling (though not as suited as a Beast) for anything fishy... Besides the thing that had scared Otto, that is.
4 Suxx on Investigate
Rook was half-way through stepping away when Otto opened his mouth. If the Constable had been on the Board, Otto would have been torn limb from limb before the Summer chesspiece could have stopped himself. As it was, he gripped himself and wrestled with that part of him.
Enemy piece! Capture! CAPTURE!
It was like a klaxon in his brain. He could feel the fires being fanned into violence inside him. His teeth gritted, and his knuckles whitened.
"Jack, if you can't shut him up, gag him," Rook said, his voice steel-cold. There was no request in his words. "Or I'll shut him up."
CAPTURE. CAPTURE! ENEMY PIECE!

As the group moves forward they continue to see a variety of stalls, which not only have a variety of body parts on display, but some of them have exotic beasts in cages as well. Some of the fauna on sell is native to the Hedge, while others come from the other side. There are some that look slightly humanoid even. A few of the merchants and patrons around the group seem to be curious as to what the ruckus is. Some glance at them with raised eyebrows for a moment, before they turn their attentions back to their own personal business.
While Xerxia is looking around, she notices another massive Blunderbore walking around the place as if keeping an eye on things. He is carrying a spiked mace and some pretty hefty armor as well. She also notices a stall that appears to have larger cages on display, and while it is hard to make out what the contents of those cages are from where she is standing, she can at least tell that the shapes inside are humanoid in appearance.

After a glance at Otto, Jack takes a closer look at the strange creatures and body parts on display.

Stripes does his best to ignore the ruckus Otto is causing (as well as his feelings of guilt for his minor hand in it) and takes a closer look at the caged animals. A little shudder goes up the tiger's spine. He was a beast for his durance but at least he had been free to roam the jungles...
Stripes moves away from the animal stalls and elects to stay close to Xerxia. She's making the least fuss over things right now and looking at the caged animals is depressing.
