The Moon is Gibbous

Outside of any of the packs' territories, Tahoe Park looks peaceful tonight. The streetlights wash the area with bright light, and the moon above shines down on streets that are relatively deserted. There aren't many members of the Herd who would go out and explore the popular recreational facility at this time of night. It may be California, but it's starting to get relatively cold, and with the holidays coming up, most people's minds are elsewhere.

It's a few minutes to 1am. As the clock ticks onwards, an eerie stillness settles over the area. It seems to wash out the ordinary noise of the wind, the the clatter of traffic from the roads, and cloud cover moves in.

It's moving fast.

Shifting, 2 suxx

Dale had been running around the park for about an hour.

He usually came out this late at night to avoid being seen by prying eyes, plus he enjoyed going for runs under the soft caress of Mother Luna. The young Rahu moved swiftly through the wooded areas of the park in his Urshul form, enjoying the cool night breeze and taking advantage of how quiet it was at this late in the evening.

It was during these runs that the pup truly felt free, and could fully embrace his true nature.

Things are unnaturally quiet tonight.

The large black wolf stopped to take a brief rest, as he noticed the unusual cloud over his head.

Hmmm...that's weird.

Still being relatively new to the area, and unsure of whether this sort of thing was common around here, Dale decided to rely on his instincts and started to sniff around the area. He figured that if he was about to get jumped or worse, he could at least pick up the assailant's scent before they got too close to him.

And Dale is rewarded with the familiar smell of motorcycle grease, pot, and Uratha. His Beta appears out of the cloud cover - and is already eerily put off by the other Rahus eyes, which seem to have glossed over with cataracts. <<Far From Territory.>> he barks out in a mouth not perfected for First Tongue.

Death Sight activated. Starflower is in urhan.

At first, the Blood Talon's instinct was to pounce whatever approached him. However, he easily picked up the familiar scent and relaxed as he recognized the odd mixture of smells.

Ahh, must be Starflower!

The pup was taken aback for a moment by the strange look of his Beta's eyes. However, he came back to the matter at hand and barked in response.

"Far, yes. I was running." He glanced over at the sky, his lupine eyes widened as he stared at the strange clouds. He then barked something else in the First Tongue. "The sky...it's wrong."

The park was only a few blocks from his Pack's territory and thus when Matt saw the strange cloud, the Elodoth decided to investigate just what the hell the thing was before to found it's way east. Jogging, which was both a cover for moving around the area and good exercise, the Half Moon made his way into the park and noticed that two other Uratha had decided to investigate the disturbance in no-wolf's land. As he got closer, he saw just how unnatural the cloud was and quickly found a covered place to shift into Urhan in order to use the senses and speed of a wolf to try and figure out just what in the fuck was going on.

1 Essence spent to shift

In Urhan form the Elodoth makes his way towards the First Tongue voices, stopping a short distance away. <<Friendly>> He communicates before approaching, understanding that the first reaction of any Uratha in this Pea Soup/Star Trek Cloud would be to attack. Better to quietly announce his presence and prevent any blue on blue.

As Dale sniffs around, he picks up an odd, oily scent beneath the scents of the park. It's faint, and something has clearly gone to the trouble of trying very hard to conceal itself, but it's there.

The black wolf continued to sniff the air around them, picking up a scent that belonged to another Uratha that wasn't Starflower; possibly one he had met at the Tur before. However, there was another scent beneath it all. It was faint, but he could pick up traces of it and deep down inside the Blood Talon knew there was something unusual about it.

Dale turned his lupine snout towards the newcomer as he heard him utter a word in the First Tongue. Even though he tried to remember the scent, he couldn't. Yet, the wolf in front of them claimed to be a friend.

Oh oh

Who the fuck is this? He better not make any sudden moves...he sure picked a fan-fuckin-tastic time to show up out of the blue!

The pup turned to his Beta, hoping that he would recognize the new guy or give him the green light to tear him to pieces. One could not be too careful around here, with all the Pure surrounding the area and what not. While he faced his brother Rahu he barked a simple question in the First Tongue.

"Friend?"

Something smelled fishy about this whole thing, and he knew it wasn't them or the new guy. Maybe it was that faint oily scent in the air. Whatever the hell it was, it definitely put Dale on edge, and the pup was ready to pounce at anything that appeared threatening at that moment.

Alejandra had been having quite an enjoyable time in Tahoe Park, frolicking around and winding freely through the trees. It was fun, and so worry-free compared to the life of her human-self, although admittedly things were getting better on that front too, recently. She raised her head to the moon, the breeze ruffling her dark brown fur.

She had been out there for a lengthy period of time, minding her own business and generally enjoying the time to herself. And then the moon disappeared from her sights as the cloud cover passed across the skies. Her hackles rose and Alejandra snarled reflexively as the eeriness settled across the park. She padded out of the trees, nose to the wind as she sniffed the air.

"Any... Friend?" Alejandra asked carefully.

Alejandra is in Urhan form

A patch of darkness peals away from the deep shadows not far from Alejandra, quickly revealing itself to be a wolf with midnight-black pelt.

It would seem Matthew takes seriously the need to watch over the pack's new members.

After giving Alejandra a nod, deep eyes take in the gathering wolves, and similarly gathering clouds. The Meninna sniffs at the air, growling low in his throat, but elects to otherwise maintain his silence for the moment.

<<Shakespeare's Pride>> The Elodoth communicates to both the two Uratha who were here before him and newest arrivals, appearing loose but ready for something to happen. It felt odd but for some reason the Deed name Emily had chosen for him seemed to translate well, at least better than his own mundane name. He sniffs at the air as his eyes wonder just what this thing was, hoping that something about the smell would reveal some more information.
