Dillon too leans back in his chair. He looks as though, if he were a breather, he'd be purging a big, heavy sigh. "Now, while you're the 'fruit' of your Sire's sin, and not responsible for his actions, you will be held responsible for yours. I appreciate your being candid with me, I really do. And I don't hold it against you. But announcing it in Elysia in front of all of the Officers, the Herald, also Mekhet by the way, and the Hound, who just finished pummeling a fool Torpid for acting like an FNG? He lets the hand that was previously supporting his jaw fall to the table with a dull flop. "Everyone out there that you really don't want to think that you're ignorant of our ways probably heard you declaring that you were. If any one of them move against you once you go out that door, how do you think you'll be getting out of here?"

Tracy listens as Dillon speaks, a remorseful look on her face. She is no longer smiling, and she's got the look of a puppy that knows its done something it wasn't supposed to. When he is done speaking she gives him an apologetic look.

"I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't really thinking." She pauses for a moment. "I see your point. I understand that there are those out there who would rather see me destroyed for my ignorance, instead of giving me a chance to prove myself. But that's all I ask, that you give me a chance to prove that I'm just not some naive girl."

She has a serious expression on her face as she speaks to him. "Perhaps if you could introduce me to the Herald? That should give me a chance to do some damage control. Could you help me with that?"

Dillon gives Tracy an encouraging nod and smile. "Good idea. I can assure you that Herald Villiers is both a thoughtful and reasonable person. Just keep in mind that she is the Alder Prince's voice, and is considered to speak with his authority at all times. I've already seen neonates embarrassing themselves by misunderstanding her influence."

He makes to stand, holding out his hand to gesture her toward the door. "And I also need to say that I don't intend to cast doubt and suspicion at our Court Officers. I have great respect for the office of the Reeve." Even if he still hadn't technically met the Reeve himself, yet. "It's just that it pays to be cautious of the motivations or possible predjudices of others, that's all."

The Priscus will be more than willing to escort Tracy to Martha, offering his arm again, like a gentleman.
