Marcus reminds himself to check in on Owen as he passes the young darkling's house. The elemental had barely held it together after he made it back, he can't even begin to imagine what it must be like for someone Owen's age. Focusing back on the business at hand, Marcus pulls his Jeep up in front of the abandoned house that held the gate they had used to escape from the Bogeyman's Hollow. As he leads Rick up to the front door, he casually glances from side to side to see if any of the neighbors are about.

"We came out through a large mirror hanging on the back bedroom wall. The entire place looked empty and abandoned."

Rick rolls his shoulders slightly as he walks up to the door. The weight of a kevlar vest wasn't really all that unfamiliar to him anymore, but it still wasn't something he was all that used to. But it had certainly demonstrated that the protection it offered was well worth the weight. Better to be bruised than riddled with bullets. "Skin 'n Bones seemed to make a habit of using mirrors as gateways in and out of the Hedge too. He shattered at least one of them behind him to make an escape."

Although all seems quiet, both men notice a middle-aged woman in the pink ranch style house next door peeking through her curtains at the two strange men walking up to her neighbor's abandoned house.

When Marcus notices the nosy woman, he simply turns and stares right back at her without even the smallest hint of an expression on his face.

Rick shrugs slightly as he notes the direction of Marcus's gaze. "Just ignore her. Even if she does call the cops they'll probably think she was calling wolf when they sweep through the house to find no one there. If she doesn't," he shrugs again. If she didn't call the cops he didn't really care what she thought. "Are we waiting on Sam before we head in?"

The woman gives Marcus the stink-eye before eventually turning away from the window and switching on her television in order to see what her favorite reality stars have been up to lately. As if on cue, Marcus's phone vibrates as he receives Sam's answer to his text message.

"Shattered it? Hmm... I wonder why he didn't just do that when we came after him. I mean, why would he..."

Marcus is interrupted by his vibrating phone. Pulling it out, he reads Sam's response and types out a quick response before putting his phone back in his pocket.

"No. He's on his way, but I told him we're heading in now and he can catch up."

He raises an eyebrow at Rick as he continues.

"He's coming from Harry's."

The elementals both know the wizened well enough to know what that means. Giving a slight shrug, the metalflesh pulls the multitool out of his other pocket and gets to work on the standard locks on the front door.

Although Marcus has no trouble with the flimsy lock on the door knob, the deadbolt is another matter. As precious seconds tick by, the metalflesh begins to feel rather conspicuous before he finally feels the bolt slide back into place. Slipping into the now unlocked house, both men easily find the back bedroom with the large mirror hanging on the wall just as Marcus remembers it. Other than the mirror, the house doesn't appear to have any furnishing or personal effects of any kind. In fact, the only difference that Marcus notices is that the thin layer of dust that had coated everything is now even worse than before.

"It certainly doesn't look like anyone's been around since I was here last..."

Looking around, Marcus checks for any signs of recent activity in the room, and especially around the mirror.

"Right, then. Shall we?"

Wrapping his knuckles on the reflective surface of the mirror, Marcus tries to open the Hedge gate through sheer force of will and determination.

[Sam Barkley]

Sam's busted old pick-up whines and sputters but does, finally, deliver Barkley to the house that holds the Bogeyman's mirror. His six-shooter and flashlight are removed from the glove box and placed in his jacket pockets, gun on the right, light on the left. The trusty Fetch-Bane is taken from behind the seat. He checks his other provisions- water bottle, trail mix, and whiskey flask are all in their appropriate pockets. He sighs at the last and adjusts the shades pinching his nose. Business time.

Barkley looked at Owen's house for just a moment before entering the abandoned one. He hears Marcus' familiar voice and follows after. "Gennelmen," he says to them, smiling crookedly. "How goes it? Oh, yeh, congrats on gettin' married, King Rick. 'Ere, let ol' Sam have a go," he says, exerting his Wyrd upon the mirror-Gate.
