And as the gate's opened Rick hands drift to his pocket and the battery he always kept therein. Drawing on the electricity within it as he called upon Lightning to fulfill its end of the bargain as had long ago become habit before entering the Hedge. "Right, let's go." The protective aura of lightning crackles to life around him as he speaks, then he steps forward and through the gate into the Hedge beyond.

Marcus steps back as the lightning suddenly crackles into life all around Rick. Once the Gilded Mage is through the gate, the Hedge Warden gives Sam a wry look.

"Think he's expecting trouble?"

Following the Autumn King's example, the metalflesh calls upon his own elemental protection as he grasps the metal frame of the mirror and climbs through to the other side. Sam get a brief glimpse of sharp, reflective metal fragments encasing Marcus' torso before he disappears over the threshold.

[Sam Barkley]

Sam smirked as the two Elementals girded themselves for battle. "Always best to expect the worst," he says approvingly to himself, glad that he wasn't the only paranoid present. Barkley removes the pistol from his pocket, flips the safety off, and calls on the blessing shared by all Wizened to steady his hands. The pistol remains in his shootin' hand; the staff, his weapon of choice, stays in his off-hand to steady his stride. Then he, too, steps through the mirror, once more into the Hedge, his home-away-from-Harry's. "Jus' checkin'," he explains to Rick with a snicker, "that it ain't go to yer head, ol' friend, like it done to ol' Sam."

The three Hedgewalkers climb through the gate into the Bogeyman's Hollow only to find a bedroom almost identical to the one they just left. However, this room is actually furnished with a bed, nightstand, and dresser. There is also a small pile of refuse in the center of the room, which Marcus and Sam will remember as the remains of the Bogeyman's masked duplicate. An open doorway leads out of the room into a dim hallway from which they can hear indistinct voices and a loud thumping noise.
