"Not at all. I'm happy to address any curiosity regarding the Spear." A friendly smirk. Dillon didn't necessarily want their casual conversation to turn too rigid with religion, but if Lance honestly wanted to know about the... Lance... more irony... Dillon would easily oblige. He was aware that the subject sometimes made others apprehensive, though.
"But of course, expect my curiosity toward your choice of Covenant in return."

"Every Sanctified that I've encountered that made their membership a topic could be easily tossed into the 'rant at me about how much of a failure I am for reason X/Y/Z' camp easily enough. I'm eager to meet someone that won't force me to tune them out when explaining what their beliefs are about for once, at least if they're willing to do so." And yes, his face shows his awareness of the irony of his name and this topic quite keenly.
Lance continues in a tone tinged with a faint edge of exasperation, "As for my choice of Covenant, I did some work for the Movement back in Frisco, but I wasn't a member. I've been pursuing a position in the Ordo Dracul since arriving in the Domain, but it's moving with agonizing slowness. It's hard to tell if they're just testing my patience or if they don't want to be bothered."

Dillon's smirk turns into a grin as he chuckles very shortly at Lance's description, little more than a breath forced out in amusement. "I'll try very hard not to preach at you. Should you desire a sermon, you are always free to attend Mass. If you've gotten the overview before, is there some point I could clarify without presenting the entire oratory?
"And as for the Movement and the Dragons, what is it about them that has appealed to you? Is it the general forward-thinking attitude? From my limited experience, both seem interested in progress and change, perhaps to stir up our immortal society and prevent stagnation. Because we have to reinvent ourselves socially, from decade to decade, in order to interact with the current generation of mortals, I recognize the usefulness of such ideals."

"The Carthain mindset appeals to me because of the passion a good movement encourages. I'm only sixty and I know how easy it is to fall into a rut and then bam," Lance emphasizes the word with a snap of his fingers. "You look at a calendar one night and you find out you've been spending the last ten years doing the same thing. I believe that as long as we don't get too isolated from mankind, we don't have any problems with interacting with mortals, no matter the generation. It's a shame the local Movement seems to be standing still though." Lance shrugs. "The Dragons on the other hand, I'm interested in because I like the idea of not being afraid of fire anymore. Trying to join is like pulling teeth though."
"I have as much understanding of what the Sanctum is about as an Atheist is likely to get or apprciate, honestly." Lance replies with a absent gesture of his glass. "What I'm really more interested in is, to blatantly copy you, what about it appeals to you?"

An eyebrow inches up Dillon's forehead at the process of joining the Ordo being akin to pulling teeth. "Well, I would suggest that perhaps it is merely situational, but they do have a reputation for being very secretive and exacting." Shrug. "But then, I don't know the situation, and I am not a Dragon." But Dillon often suspected their tactic was something along the lines of, 'if we can make you give up, we don't need you.'
"Very well," Dillon grins at the rephrased question, looking down in thought briefly. Very briefly, as a matter of fact. He'd been considering it already. "I would say, the Balance it grants me."
There was a pause that suggested Dillon knows too well that balance in unlife was not a quality exhibited by some of the Sanctified, his former Bishop included, but he is about to explain.
"We are both Mind and Beast. We are both, I believe, so that we may be greater than either; those who sway too far one way or the other are no more useful than a mortal or a mongrel. This is the line that the Spear has helped me walk for the last third of my life."
Dillon inclines his head to one side briefly, still speaking in a friendly tone. "Perhaps I'm merely viewing it through the scope of my particular family. Gangrel feel the pull of the Beast more than other Clans, and it has a big effect on the mind. Maintaining that balance is all the more important for us, and all the more difficult."

Lance nods his head in understanding "That is a respectable reason to do anything, seeking balance and improvement. No reasonable person can find fault in someone that chooses a path to support that."
When it comes to the various downsides of the nature of his blood, Lance smiles in understanding. "I see. The Daeva too, have something of an impulse control problem at times. If we cannot direct our passions to a more, let's say productive end, we are at a very real risk of degenerating into something... unpleasant." He looks down at his hand for a moment, and there is a strange expression that flits across his face as he remembers a name. He flicks his hand like he was flicking away drops of water from his fingers. "Well, that kind of thing is difficult for everyone to deal with, even at the best of times. All the more reason to find a means of control."

Dillon's hazels follow the movement of Lance's hand, wondering what sort of remembrance could produce such a reaction. But it's really none of his business, so he doesn't ask. Instead, he adds a playful comment on the discussion of Clans.
"Well, if we weren't all different, it'd be boring." His mouth is open to continue when the Prince makes his announcement. The Gangrel trap shuts quickly as the Harpy and Deputy Prisci are awarded the title of Regent as well.
When Prince Clarke finishes his speaking, and conversation resumes, Dillon looks back to Lance. There is a politely impressed look on his face, but more going on behind it. As he'd seen Conner escorting Ariana when he arrived, he hadn't thought much of it, but when they were named co-Regents, something seemed to snap into place. While Vampire couples tended to be real swingers by and large, Dillon couldn't help but feel like he was knee deep in quicksand at the memory of kissing Madam Donovan at a Journey Concert.
"Well... that's some news," He says, a bit distractedly.

"Indeed. It takes some spectacular people to divide up five titles between two people," Lance says with a faint smile, absently rubbing a spot on his chin.
Quickly his smile deepens. "Well Mister Connery, It has been a pleasure and I hope we can speak again one of these nights. However, unless you'd care to dance with me, I think I'll congradulate the new Regents and see if the Harpy would consent to one. If I may be excused?"

Dillon laughs charmingly. "You don't want to dance with me, I'm a danger to myself and others out there. But please give the New Regent my deepest regards, in case I miss the chance. And have a good evening, Mister Rayner." With that, and a nod, he bids the other fairwell.
