(Hedge Storm) Aftermath

[Doctor Jack]

Jack grabs the butt of the spear when he sees what Rust intends to do.

"What are you, CRAZY?!?! Don't do that! What are you thinking?!"

The good doctor realizes that the Summer King might indeed be officially off his rocker. He narrows his eyes as he starts to call upon one of the clauses of his Contract with the Moon, but then glances at Katrin's Wyrdly distended torso and thinks better of it. Instead, the old soldier begins backing away from the Winter Queen's poisoned... and still poisonous... corpse.

"Did the rest of you see that... feel that? We need to get away from her."

[Al-Adin]

Al-Adin lets the others deal with Katrin's body. There are many more bodies to carry. HE slings up a misshappen form, and begins trudging back home.

Terri watched in shock and disgust as the Winter Queen's body ballooned to such a grotesque shape, backing away quickly, tugging on Rick's sleeve as she did. "Move, move!" she says.

[Sam Barkley]

Sam agrees with Terri this time. He grabs Nightfall's sleeve and looks up at his Fairest friend. One of his only friends. "You too, Neil, come on! I'd stop it if I knew what Contract it was, but I don't, so yeh come on now. Yew don't get to die before ol' Sam!"

[Nightfall]

"No, Sam," Nightfall answered softly, smiling.

"We're not them. We care."

It was hard for the Fairest to explain, that he felt like they owed Katrin something more, something better.

"She carried our tears." Finally, he figured out what he was trying to say.

"Sam... you can't be happy and sad at the same time."

He looked at his friend, wondering if he understood. Understood Katrin's Sacrifice, and that it had to be honored.

"Is there... a river nearby?"

[Rust Mane]

Rust stands up and back, spear tip down. "You should not have to carry this alone. And you don't have too." Rust point the spear at the corpse.

"That is not Katrin, not anymore. It is a cancer, It must be destroyed. And for Katrin's Memory, we must do this without endangering ourselves. That is what she would want." Rosh chastises his own quick action, yes something should be done. But he was acting without thinking.
Nightfall has an idea. "Rick, did you see any Rivers from the sky?"

Jack keeps his distance, but looks curiously at Nightfall.

"Do you need water?"

Jack doesn't see a river nearby, but something Rust says inspires him.

...rivers from the sky...

Concentrating on focusing his Glamour, Jack calls upon his Season once more to bring tears from heaven for the Winter Queen.

[Rust Mane]

The first drops hit Rust's metal snout and he snorts at the cold.
Rubbing it away, Rust draws into himself, not wanting to be out in the rain. Out in the cold.

Water? Rust wonders if he has picked up on what Neil intends to do, He raises the butt of the spear and smacks a nearby stone. There is soft crack, and water springs forth from under neath, running down into the depression of earth Katrin lies in which is becoming jagged and rocky as it deepens. A depression that quickly becomes a small pond of glimmering cool water. Spring rain softly plays across the surface, burgeoning the pond even more as time passes in this late Winter day.

With a flourish Rosh waves a clawed hand. The bed of the pond glimmers with oily jet and large onyx stones with a dabbling of white pearls reminiscent of pale white skin, jet black hair.

A black metal spire twists up from the ground to mark the spot. The sand in the area takes on a deep orange hue. Blades of grass become metal blades. Puddles of blood take on an oily sheen.

Rust gives a sigh and looks over the scene waiting for Neil to finish with his own special touch, the Breath of Winter.
If only it could stay this way forever.

If only there is a way to make that so.

The effects of Rust's Hedge Shaping attempt are not at all what he narrated. That might be how he envisions it, but that is not the reality of the Hedge.

Rick winces, instinctively moving backwards as Rust raises the spear. Had he never seen what happened when you punctured something under pressure? Thankfully others were fast enough to stop him before he sent who knows splattering from what may or may not have been the late Queen's body over everyone assembled nearby.

First the scene with Fairweather in the dream, now this. If only they could get him to more consistently think before acting.

And he doesn't really resist Terri's pull, letting her tug him backwards. He moves backwards, though, keeping his gaze fixed on the scene before them. Eyes unblinking as they studied the scene carefully. Looking for any further clue, or hint, as to just what was happening. Because it was dangerous, obviously supernatural...and continuing to not know was leaving him distinctly uneasy and worried.
