David is unsure whether to be put off by everyone's stepping on eggshells around the idea of crone privacy, or to wonder if they just don't actually want to know what terrible monsters all vampires are.
David smiles at Martha. "Recently it was the summer solstice, and the Circle celebrated that, but otherwise nothing of too much consequence. How about yourself? I heard there was a fancy party of some sort, though I was regrettably busy that night. Did you attend?"

Martha smiles and nods. "Indeed! I hope your celebrations went well, sir! Did you mean the Masquerade Ball? Yes...several of the Court attended...though it was a political charity evening...some of us went along to a sort of open evening at the Asylum recently too!" she giggles at the thought, looking quite bashful. "It was all very interesting! I do so enjoy attending a Ball though, don't you, sir?"

"They did indeed, thank you for asking. I had heard of both, but the ball was the one I was refering to. Balls have always been a joy to me, though I find that speakeasys to be.."
And then the japanese woman and her pet monster show up. David's beast, normally quite cowardly, outdoes itself today. It is wailing against the bars of its prison, howling for David to grab hold of his senses and run! Run run run to the hills, where she can't find you she's going to kill you run please run you stupid ape. David's eyes widen, and he tenses up as the two make their entrance, but otherwise he does not show the desperation that his beast is clawing at him with.
"To be more of my taste. The relaxed atmosphere and soft music, along with the beautiful women that would read poetry was sublime. Do you read poetry Herald Villiers?"

Martha listened, but as David spoke her attentions also went to study the arrival of the geisha and the girl. Blinking at the strange sight, she gripped her cane tight, rubbing it hard against her lame leg...harder still as she fought to grapple her Beast which called for all manner of reactions. Gathering her cool, Martha pressed her cane against her leg and nodded once more to David. "I...I do read poetry, sir...not as often as I might wish, but I do, sir. I...I wonder...might you accompany me, please, sir. Act as an escort so I may carry out my Duty as Keeper and Herald...I see we have some new arrivals. They will require attention and possibly even Acknowledging! I would welcome your help in this matter. When this function is served, I should enjoy talking with you about poetry and Balls and all manner of jolly amusements!" she offers a happy enough smile as she presses her cane harder to her leg.

"That sounds quite wonderful Herald." David offers his arm, even as his beast breaks down into a sobbing wreck as he walks towards the towering collosus of 'going to kill you and wear your skin as a hat' contained in a creepy little girl.
