The good doctor gives the departing darkling a friendly nod before turning back to Tally.
"Oh, and don't pay any attention to Leo... no one else does."
Jack's mouth twists into a devilish grin as he glances from Tally to Leopold.
The Manticoress smiled, then, "I am well. I trust that you are doing all right? It has been a while since we've had a chance to speak; how goes the engagement?"
"Really well, thanks, everything's in place. I hope you received your invitation?" Terri asked, her tail swishing side to side excitedly at the conversation of her wedding. "I think I sent it to the studio."
"I did receive it, and I thank you for inviting me. It does seem to be a trend in the Freehold, with the weddings and engagements...and a pleasant one, I may add. Such treats are rare, and need to be nurtured. If I may ask, how did you and Rick meet?"Juno's tail curled as she spoke; her blue eyes blinking slowly in the manner of a contented feline as she basked in the happy glow of Terri's enthusiasm. Curious? Oh one knows it.
"Nay, not so busy, Doc. Just sortin' things out in me head, yeah?" Barkley grins at Jack. "An', no, I don't need anyone else bangin' around in there, heheh." Sam knocks on his wooden head and makes a knocking noise with his tongue, a hollow joke. "Right, see yer, sweetheart," Sam says to Rea's disappearing form, taking a moment to stare. Some might have thought he was checking out her arse, but they wouldn't know Barkley well at all. The diminutive bushman is memorizing her as best he can, locking her picture away in his mental vault of Freeholders for...well...you don't really want to know, so we'll call it just in case. "So, Miss Tally, who do yeh sign on with?" he asks the Beast, in his own fashion, what Court she's claimed, if she has. "An' what brings yeh to our neck of the woods?"
"I'm Courtless actually and rather happy to remain so. As for coming here, well, the place I arrived at was a small town and being a stranger, I fell under suspicion due to being such." Tally answers. "So, how about you guys? What brought you here to the Freehold?"
Terri's tail ceases to swoosh as she thinks back to hers and Rick's first meeting. It wasn't exactly pleasant. In fact, it almost cost Barkley his life. But in that moment of fear, she found her soul mate and her tail started to flick side to side once again.
"Oh, you know, a mad changeling had killed its family and we sorta bumped into each other while fighting the bastard." Terri grinned as if it was the best first date ever, which in truth it wasn't. That had happened not long after.
Jack shakes his heads and releases a short, rueful chuckle at Sam's response before answering Tally.
"Well, you just let me know when you change your mind, Sam. As for me, I've been in Sacramento for about a year, now. I left San Francisco when all that weird shit went down with the Courts up there. I wasn't really involved in that freehold, so I'm still not really sure what happened... but that's why I've made more of an effort to be in the know this time around."
The Manticoress nodded as she listened to Terri, then, "Oddly enough, it seems that when people meet it can be as a mundane result of bumping into each other at a newsstand, working with them for years and suddenly something clicks, or under circumstances which would make anyone else say 'nah, never could happen.' Remember Sam, the artist? He was around a couple of years ago. I met him when he came to my studio with portfolio in hand looking for a freelance position. He specialized in unusual and elegant fontwork.
As they say, there is always someone out there for someone else. It's all a matter of finding them, right? And you have."
Juno smiled then, and it was a genuine expression of her happiness for Terri.
