Dead Heat

[Chrisie]

There sure was a lot of space here. The wide and well lit paved areas, intended to serve the commercial and logistic needs of the warehouses and light industrial units, were now illuminated by the headlights of maybe a dozen speeding cars.

Amongst the spectators Cassie has resplendent. Short yellow hot pants and matching high heels showed off her trim Movie Star legs. The neatly styled matching yellow racing jacket added to her Race Queen look. Honey coloured hair was bunched into a carefree ponytail that swayed as she watched the souped up Nissan Skyliner turn the corner and vanish from sight - closely followed by an electric blue Subaru.

Her own BMW was parked up not far away.

He had overheard it in passing while sitting at that bar, while waiting for someone to be inexorably pulled towards him. He had been intrigued enough to walk by, with his head still swimming somewhat. Walking the dark corners of the city was one of his short term plans after all, and having no better destination now, this was a good place to start.

Once he had been close enough, narrowing on the actual location was a breeze. The roaring of the engines was unmistakable.

Anasztaz took the turn and saw the machines, majestic monsters of steel souped up for performance. He knew very little of the workings of them, but they were fascinating. The whole following about it also had an allure of its own, too...

He melded with the crowd, and then something else drew his attention, the anxiousness building up in his chest. There was another Beast here, in the crowd. He backtracked his gaze and spotted her, perfectly melding in place with the audience. This was someone else's grounds, it seemed, and likely he was interfering.

Cassandra flinched a moment. The throb of the bass from the speakers of a Toyota parking nearby reverberated in her chest...it confused her a moment to sense a Beast nearby. Looking around the scattered crowd she drew her alluring gaze in upon the new comer. This was not Elysium...anything could happen.

Warily, Cassandra edged around the new arrival. Her high heels clacking on the bone dry concrete as she circled him. Watching him, eyeing him, as a cat might a bird... is he here for trouble...or fun?

It was her grounds and within her full right to approach him and assess him like she was doing, and so he remained cool, standing still in his place simply looking at the events about, throwing an occasional glance to lock gaze with her as she circled him just for long enough to let her know that he was aware of her presence too.

He risks a pleasant smile trying to convey his intent, or at least to try to expose himself as anything but a threat. But for now he remains the cornered mouse amongst the crowd, not risking to move towards her or away, which could be thought of as fight or flight. He had no reasons to do either.

Cassandra sees his smile, offers one of her own. Making sure her poise and allure wa obvious even when walking across a car park, she made her way over to meet the New Guy. "Hi!" she offered in a cautious tone to her local accent, hands defiantly on her hips as she unconsciously strikes a pose to study him. "You're new, right?"

[Nil]

"That's right." Anasztaz nods. The initial argument of Beasts put aside, he could now put himself at ease and return to his usual demeanor.

He crossed his arms and relaxed visibly, a buckle of his hair slipping forward past his shoulders.

"Just a couple of nights around, barely out of Court meet and greet. I am Anasztaz Veres, apologies for having encroached on you like this. I hadn't meant to."

Cassandra offers a smile and nod, seeming to take the subservience for granted. "Hi, Anasztaz...I'm Cassandra...sometimes, at the more er...specialist clubs, some call me Lady Cassandra...but...that's another story!" she laughs happily, "...anyway, yer welcome t'join me..." a winning smile, she pauses to watch the Subaru blaze past, watching the powerful car with the same predatory look that she'd had a moment earlier..."you into racing too? You got a car to race tonight?" she says, raising her voice to be heard above the engines, keeping an eye on his hands for a second...you never know....it could be just a trick.

"Nothing remotely as interesting, I am afraid." Anasztaz says, waving his hand as if to reiterate his point.

"I just heard about this event and figured I'd have a look. I am new to the city and still getting acquainted with the nightlife."

He gazes at the car that dashes past, his eyes glimmering almost with threat for a moment.

"But thank you for your invitation, I think I may just take you up on it. Else I think I'd just miss out on a good few of the details. Do you have a car to race yourself, however?"

[Chrisie]

Cassandra nods, nodding her head towards the impressive car over by a few others...including a Dodge that is just getting parked up.

"I thought I'd come along with it tonight...might give it a race. The tank's full, just in case." she smiles a sly smile.

[Nil]

"It is an impressive machine. I'd love to watch." Anasztaz says, looking back where she had glanced. There was an glimmer in his eye when he looked at it, he was honestly impressed and not just trying to be agreeable.

"Of course, if you decide to do so. Do not let me pressure you into it."
