The diner is a small place. Likely once a Mom&Pop establishment, but now its atmosphere lovingly maintained by newer management.
The parking lot is mostly empty, but the sign on the front door is hand-written and welcoming.

Sitting in the booth Taylor looks the menu over. He had really just wanted to hit the farmer's market but as he was always told, "Never leave a girl in distress"

Peering around you notice a rugged couple hunches over cups of coffee, the man in a moth-eaten plaid wool vest, and the woman wearing unnatural shades of purple over her eyes and an unfortunate twist of hair atop her head.
In a corner, a group of teenagers likely recovering from a night of poor behavior is seated. They whisper and groan, and grin ferociously as they recall highlights of their recklessness.
In short order the waitress ambles in from the back. Her right leg is rigid as a lightpost, and although she moves at a brisk pace, her limping lurch brings into serious doubt her ability to keep hold of the dishes precariously held in and along her arms.
"So sorry, you need time to think? I will come with you soon."
Her voice is so scratchy, and her face so weathered by a lifetime of labor that you really can't make a safe guess as to what accent she has.

He's a good person... really he is... He generally wants to help people... sometimes to many at once and that can stretch him thin. He's intelligent...atleast about most things... relationships not so much obviously...
She smiles slightly
He's not half bad to look at either.

Jessica started to continue her conversation as her cell phone rang.
Excuse me a moment..
She answered the cell and listned for a moment to the other voice.
Are you ok? There was a bit of concern in her voice. With the pause came a sign of relief again though.
Do you need me to do anything?
Another pause, listening.
You've made contact with "others" already?
She glances over at Taylor, as she realised this coversation wasnt something she could continue in public.
Crap...
She turned her attention back to the phone.
...Sure I'll get right on it.
She hung the phone back up as she stood.
I'm really VERY sorry Taylor.. but I have to go... something important just came up and I need to go get.... I need to go... maybe another time.... It was nice meeting you.
She made her walk quickly out the door and back up the street.

Taylor was just a little impressed that he couldn't even get a word in edge wise.
As she was leaving he did get a nose full of her scent and...
It was nice.
Something he would not soon forget.
Taylor apoligizes to the waitress as he makes his way out of the dinner.
I hope nothing too terrible is wrong. That poor girl seems to have enough problems on her hands. No one should be that distressed this early in the morning.
I need to grab groceries now that I think about it. I should hit that farmers market the principle was telling me about.
