Good evening fellow Children of the Night.
|
|
|
I wanted to take a quick moment and introduce myself as it looks like I will start to play here with you guys
I've had a few years of nWoD experience and about a year of Play-by-Post on a Mage the Awakening oriented game. My favorite splat however is the Vampire, and so I've been searching for a group to take me in, and here I am
As to my RL: I'm from Switzerland, half a world away (not the farthest away as I've heard). I study biology in the local University and will hopefully graduate with a Bachelor next year.
I'm really looking forward to playing with everyone!
Regards from across the lake,
Ion

Haha, good question Usually people get it wrong, pronouncing me I-on.
For an accurate sound, pronounce the word "yonder" and drop the -der. ^^

That's a really sweet name.
My name's super-easy to pronounce, but the names of areas around me are not -
Warwick (WAR-ick. You add the second w, you're definitely not from here)
Norfolk (NAAH-fick)
Powhatan (POW-i-tan)
Kecoughtan - (KICK-uh-tan)
There are others. Welcome, by the way, Ion. _________________ ~More than chit-chat, we listen to the streets. We're all deadbeats and these old habits are starting to show through~

Well, at least we won't have another "Ich" fiasco. (Some of us were pronouncing it "Ick" while others were saying "Itch.")
But welcome, Ion! So it's pronounced "yawn", then?? ^_^.

Welcome, Ion.
I'm looking forward to reading about your character.
Where I live, the way people talk trumps all your asses!
Two dialects of Chinese mostly, lots of bad English and then some other dialects and languages thrown in for good measure.
I'm in mainland China, just across the boarder from Hong Kong, in the city of Shenzhen.
I teach ESL at a vocational college here.

Soo... how do you pronounce Ich? If I pronounced it here in Switzerland it would be an "E" for the "I" and a scratchy throat sound for the "ch" (the sound you make when you try to gather water from your throat, to rinse for instance) ^^
And ChaosAngel, how does one pronounce your name then?

Well, my screen name is just how it looks. My IRL name-now, that's a toughy. It's Jen. I know, unusual, right? Although people do mispronounce it on occasion. They sometimes say "Jess" or even "Jessica" instead. No clue why, as I have never introduced myself that way. In fact, someone I've known for two years called me "Jess" the other day.
And (Ich, please correct me if I am wrong) Ich rhymes with Hitch. _________________ Kira DuVois OBF2, Cozette Muriel, Prince Derin SL4, Vernal Sovereign Grace SL4, Emissary Roselynn, General Miller, Iron Seneschal William, Wroth Kate Fairweather, Vizier Aidan Scott, Witch Shade, Legate of Ashes Kelly Carwin, Thorn Ranger Arch Lily Gardner SL 2, Rayanna Pearson, SL4,

Eh, hollywood stars are over rated. But some of the stuff they they do on Ghosthunters...I don't know. I believe that spirits and ghosts exist, but on a t.v. show? I'm a bit skeptical. _________________ Kira DuVois OBF2, Cozette Muriel, Prince Derin SL4, Vernal Sovereign Grace SL4, Emissary Roselynn, General Miller, Iron Seneschal William, Wroth Kate Fairweather, Vizier Aidan Scott, Witch Shade, Legate of Ashes Kelly Carwin, Thorn Ranger Arch Lily Gardner SL 2, Rayanna Pearson, SL4,

This Ich is not the German word for I. It sounds just like itch. It's short for Rich, so, it could also be written, 'Ich.

Yeah- they go in sine waves for me of believability. But generally I give them the benifit of the doubt on the ghost stuff.
'Cept for the fact that they are still plumbers and their silly light detector...those, I don't really believe. _________________ Twist: Striking Looks 2 (alluring), Blood Potency 2

They are plumbers? LOL. Ok, it comes on when? I may just have to watch it now. I've been listening to one of the teachers talk about it for awhile now. And I really watch to much t.v..... _________________ Kira DuVois OBF2, Cozette Muriel, Prince Derin SL4, Vernal Sovereign Grace SL4, Emissary Roselynn, General Miller, Iron Seneschal William, Wroth Kate Fairweather, Vizier Aidan Scott, Witch Shade, Legate of Ashes Kelly Carwin, Thorn Ranger Arch Lily Gardner SL 2, Rayanna Pearson, SL4,

Ok from the Live show and the stuff I looked up on them, they are STILL plumbers but taking more time for the show then the poo business and when the show dies they have the job back at Roto-Rooter. I half think the scenes where they show them doing stuff is staged....they seem to be on call repair type not new construction.
Now the rest of it is neat in the did you see that but some of the equipment I think is for TV stuff to keep the watcher glued until they find something more REAL. _________________

Ah- I thought it would be something like that. Roto-Rooter would be idiots to loose them, right now they are getting free publicity through the two. And a definite yes on the staging...camera crew happens to be there and the office, no gloves- or when they do have gloves they don't bother to remove them to answer the phone...
Yeah, I wish they would just stick to the cool science gadgets. Okay- really I just like the thermo-cam. That thing is their best piece of equipment, they seriously need to invest in another one or two. And give up on feeling the cold spots with your hands *rolls eyes* _________________ Twist: Striking Looks 2 (alluring), Blood Potency 2

Ghost Hunters is on Wednesday nights, to answer your question Chaos.
It really is an awesome show, in my opinion anyway. One of the few Sci-fi shows I'll actually watch (I hate that channel).
Anyway, welcome Ion, we are very glad to have you.
My RL name is Arianna, but almost all of my friends call me Ri. No I have no idea how you would pronounce that where you are, so ummmm, you can call me LF if it's easier.
And, yes Chaos you are right. Most of my family is from Rhode Island and they do have odd accents. They also call a water fountain a bubbler which really threw me for a loop when my mom said it one day. _________________ "I might like you better if we slept together."

I have never, ever, ever seen Ghost Hunters.
But, Sci-fi channel-wise, I absolutely am enthralled by the World's Most Haunted Places or whatever they call it. I don't know if it comes on all the time or not, but they had a marathon of it the week of Halloween. I had just gotten cable for the first time in 4 years, and watching it took me back to my old-school days of watching Fear on MTV. Those shows CRACK ME UP.
I started watching it at 8 am and before I knew it, I had watched the entire marathon of the shows. It was like Christmas cam early for me.
I also watch this show on the Fine Living Network called Haunted Homes. I think the psychic on there is a little bit too dramatic for me, although from the responses they show, she has at least an idea of what she's talking about - sometimes. _________________ ~More than chit-chat, we listen to the streets.
