~DET. CARSON GRACE~
Carson was awaiting Ms. Bella Quintain, she was not officaly a suspect but it did happen in her club. A club that was mysteriously closed last night. Carson was waiting for Det. Venessa Blas she had run the trace on the Cocaine and the Heroine one was Street level the other was High grade Dragon. This made no sense so Bella had all the answers. She had until the Judge made it into his office and then an offical warrant would be issued for her, her workers and all the dancers. John was at the scene collecting evidence, and Venessa should be here with the reports before then.

Detective Venessa Blas entered the room Carson had set aside for Ms. Quintain when and if she finally arrived. She took a seat next to the homicide detective and sighed, dropping a folder down on the table.
"This doesn't make any sense." She said, a little frustrated and very tired. "Both of these drugs are coming from two completely separate side of the spectrum here. I've been trying to get somewhere with this, but I can't say I'm having much luck. Guess we'll just have to wait until Ms. Quintain gets here to get any further answers."

Grace made her way into the police station and to the front desk, her heels clicking on the tiles. Her hair was pulled back into a bun, and she was wearing a pair of black, unwrinkled slacks and a light blue sleeveless top. She knew how important impressions were, and she had taken pains to appear polished and professional.
She inquired at the front desk where she could find Detective Grace.

~NARRATION~
The officer at the desk looked at her, bored as usual, the smell of fresh fingernail polish hung in the air. Yeah let me call him for you, who can I say is calling....ok one moment. She picked up the phone paged and then got a call back immediatly.
"Bella Quintain is here, yeah I will have her escorted back."
She hung up and looked back to Bella.
"Your expected in Interview one. This officer will escort you back."
With that Bella is walked back to the room. When she walks in she see the two Detectives standing with a couple different files on the table.....

Ms. Quintain, please come in and sit down. Might I ask why your club was shut down this evening?

Why my club was shut down? They dragged my ass out of bed at four in the morning because my club was shut down? Really?
It was all Grace could do to not fly off the handle. She really, really, really wished Micheal was here. Why did he have to pick now of all times to go traipsing through the damn mountains?
Grace sat down in the offered chair and crossed her legs. She folded her hands on her lap and leaned back in the chair.
"My club was shut down because I couldn't open it. Someone had my utilities shut off and my dumpsters taken away. Now, I could have gotten by without any dumpsters, but the girls need to see in order to dance. And the generator isn't that powerful."

Venessa listened as Bella spoke and opened her file. She glanced through the papers for a moment before looking back up at the other woman and speaking to her.
"My name is Detective Venessa Blas, Ms. Quintain. We appreciate your time. Do you know if any of your girls or other employees are involved in drug trafficing?"

Grace thought she had misheard her for a minute. Drugs? In her club?
"Detective Blas, none of my employees are involved with drugs. I do background screening on all potential hires. And because I am aware of the type of people who are generally in this type of business, I do random drug tests on all my employees. There are cameras in all the private rooms. An attendant is in the bathrooms to make sure there aren't drugs being done in there. I run a very clean club."
Grace was beginning to wonder what was going on. This couldn't have waited until morning?

Detective Blas nodded and made some notes on a sheet of paper in the folder. She then pointed to Detective Grace with her pen as she spoke.
"Please aswer Detective Grace's questions, Ms. Quintain, so we can continue."

"There are a lot of foreign names here. Do you know if they are all citizens of our country? Could any of them possibly be illegal? How thorough is this background check you do? What company do you use for that service?"

Looking up as she ticked off the names from the roster of a night he did not ask about, he noticed Det. Blas was writing the names down so he didn't then she snapped her question. Det. Blas let that slide and tossed some more at her. Once she was done Carson slapped the notebad down and looked at Bella.
First off Ma'am were asking the questions and second don't even think of reminding me of the time I am on my fourth eighteen hour shift which just got pushed too god knows how long thanks to your little Whore's Den of a club. Now Why was your Strip club closed TONIGHT? WERE you thier tonight? Whom was thier with you?
A knock on the door and a man came in and handed Det. Grace an envelope. Carson looked it over quickly noted the TOD, handed the folder to Det. Blas and continued on his questions
Where were you at 2 a.m. this morning?

Whores den!??! Grace about exploded in his face when he slammed down his notepad. Grace crossed her arms under her breasts and put her head down, hiding her face. She was fuming. She had been dragged in here God only knew why and she was being treated like crap. She had had enough. She took a deep breath and then another one. When she had taken the edge of her anger she looked up and looked Detective Grace in the eyes.
"I already told you why my club was closed. The utilities were shut off. I was not there last night-tonight. I was there the night before. And no, Detective, none of my people are illegal. They are all American citizens. Tanya was born in Puerto Rico, but the rest were all born here. I do an extensive background check on them. I use a company called Integrascan. At two a.m. I was at home."
"I understand you are asking the questions, which I have answered. But I believe I have a right to know why I am here. So, can you please tell me why am I here? It can't possibly be because my power was shut off."

Do you have anyone who can confirm you were at your home at 2 a.m.? Who is Christopher Douglas? Is he part of your cleaning crew? We will get to why were asking the questions while you answer them. Soon enough it will become aparant to you.
As he asked the question about Christopher he slid his Driver's Liscence Photo over and watched for a reaction

Something suddenly dawned on Grace. Grace flushed prettily and put her hands on her head.
"Oh, God, I'm sorry. I was there last night. Because I didn't actually work, it didn't click. I'm sorry. It's been an extremely stressful day. Lisaundra, one of the bartenders, called me when she realized the utilities were off and the dumpsters were gone. I was with my friend, Sybil, and we went up there. I called the utility companies and went inside a bit. I was trying to figure out a way to stay open-do some sort of theme night."
Grace looked up as Detective Grace said "cleaning crew."
"Sir, I don't have a cleaning crew. The staff cleans up before we go home for the night," Grace looked at the picture on the drivers license. She didn't recognize him,"Sorry, never seen him before in my life. And no, I was alone at my house."

Carson wrote a couple more things down and then set his pad down and looked to Det. Blas and shook his head No. Then looking back to Bella his eyes softened a bit and when he spoke his voice did not hold the same edge it had moments ago.
Well Ms. Quintain your club was the scene of what appears to be a drug deal gone bad. The individual we showed you was found gunned down in the back hall of your club with a couple thousdand dollars on him and over a Kilo of Cocaine and half a Kilo of Heroine found around him and scattered about your club. This is why we wanted to know if you knew him or if one of your employees might have.

Grace's jaw hit the table. All pretense of keeping her cool was gone. She was completely and utterly shocked, and it showed on her face.
"Oh, my god. That poor man-that's terrible. If I can do anything be of assistance, please just ask. I'll do whatever I can. I assume the club will need to be shut down for the next few days at least?"
What the hell was happening? First Eva, then the club getting screwed with, now this? Was it all connected in some bizarre way?
"There's probably something else you should know. Someone ordered the utilities shut off at my club. They also ordered the dumpsters to be taken. When I called Sacramento Waste Management, they said they had been asked to pick up the dumpsters because the club was being closed. I'm the only one who can do that. When Lisaundra called the utilities to find out what was going on, they wouldn't even talk to her. Everything is in my name. I chalked it up to a prank, someone screwing with the club."
Grace sighed. She may as well tell them about Eva while she was here-her name would pop up there anyways. And if it hadn't, she may be able to get some information about her friend.
"There is something else I should mention. My friend Eva Rowe died today. She was at the flea market and I happened to be there as well," Grace choked up a bit on this. She wiped a tear from her eye and cleared her throat, "sorry. I wasn't with her at the time, so I didn't see what had happened. But I figure my name is going to pop up in the investigation, so I would let you know now."[/i]

Venessa watched Bella carefully to see if her reaction was feigned or not. It seemed genuine. She closed the file in front of her.
"I am sorry to hear about your friend, Ms. Quintain. Unfortunatly, I cannot give you any information on that case. I can tell you that someone may have let whoever did this into your club. There were no signs of forced entry. Your security system was totaled and will most likely need to be replaced. We could not repair the damage to it to get anything useful out of it. That is why I was questioning you about your employees."
She leaned back in her chair and sighed. "Frankly, whoever this is has some very high connections to the local drug racket because the heroine I recovered from the scene is very high end. If it's ok with you, I would like to have the police department to run background checks on all of your employees. Just to rule them out as suspects."

Grace nodded. "Thank you, I appreciate your condolences. I understand that you can't give me any information about Eva. But when you can, will you please tell me? And if I do come across any information that may help, I will pass it along to you." Grace closed her eyes briefly, then continued.
"But as far as doing background checks on the employees-that's fine." Grace hoped to God that Lisaundra had taken precautions for this sort of thing. How was she going to explain coming from nowhere? Or having a fake identity? At least everyone else was human.
"That was a thousand dollar, high tech security system. The cameras are gone then too? Great." Grace's eyes narrowed and then widened as she thought of something, "the safe in my office-was it touched? Only a few employees know it's there. It's where we put the money at the end of the night."

Venessa shook her head. "We do not believe robbery was the motive for this particular murder. Nothing from the club was taken, as far as we can tell. Just the security system was touched, everything else looked fine."
She stood up and picked up the file. "Thank you for your cooperation, Ms. Quintain. We'll keep you apraised of the situation as much as we can."
She nodded to Detective Grace and exited the room. She immediately headed to her office and begann the background checks on the list of names in her file.

He said standing with his profile turned toward her, hands clasped and a the cheap pair of sunglasses dangling from them. Looking down and head tilted to the side to bring his eyes level with hers. Then glancing to the officer in the room, he spoke to her.

Grace was relieved the safe was untouched. She nodded at Officer Grace and said good night.
As Grace followed the officer out of the room, her head was spinning with possibilities. She wished she knew whether or not the victim was a Changeling. Or it could be a fetch. Or it could simply be a human. She sighed as she exited the police station, got into her car and drove home.
