Taquin
(Tezcatl 1 and 2, Blood Potency 2, Striking Looks 2 (California Computer Nerd), Humanity 8 )
Whoever said that 'Money can't buy everything' had never been friends with Taquin Talon.
The Westfield Downtown Shopping Plaza usually closed at 10pm, but when you were probably going to drop upward of a few thousand dollars (at least), stores could be persuaded to stay open an extra hour or two.
Because he knew he didn't have much in the way of clothes or even things, having left Mexico City as quickly as he had. He'd had the presence of mind to pack a dufflebag and his laptop and make his way quietly out of the compound.
So...shopping. And being seen. And felt. Because he'd found that it was the easiest way to get the information he needed. Elysia. Finding where the Dragons were. Getting himself (and Emerson) Acknowledged.
It's strange to others, most likely, the way his Beast felt. It's obvious he's a vampire (Blood Potency 2), but unlike most others, his Beast doesn't inspire fear in those lesser, or anger in those greater. It's merely there, like a purring, lazy lion content to sleep behind it's cage (Tezcatl 1: Conciliation).
Between the electronics (which always came first) and the clothes (breezy beach fashions mixed with formal mixed with...whatever else they'd need while here), there were bags upon bags of things.
Because really? What was the fun in being rich if you weren't going to spend the money? In times like this, a little 'retail therapy' went a long way, and he was beginning to feel like his old self.
And it had only cost him a few thousand dollars.

This aspect of Tezcatl more than any other lends some
credence to Nahualli beliefs. The user obliviates the
effect of Predator’s Taint (Vampire, p. 168) when encountering
other Kindred. It does not mask the fact
that the line member is a vampire. It merely prevents
the usual urges of frenzy or Rötschreck. |

Through this power, a Nahualli is able to draw some
of the negative effects of the Beast from herself. The
vampire does not inspire the usual repulsion that mortals
feel around one of the Damned with a low Humanity.
The power causes the vampire’s flesh to suffuse
with Vitae and counterfeit life, generating an almost
palpable aura of calm and trust. |
